Question about Hitachi 50UX57B 50" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

HD Ready? We've just bought a surround sound system and a new HD Star Choice satellite receiver and when we got this TV about 6 years ago I'm sure we were told that it was HD ready. I've misplaced our manual and I'm sure the issue is a setting or something to make it HD ready. If you have any info that would help me that would be great.

Do not know how to wire my sa-w10 speakers together

For surround sound, you need an A/V receiver with 5.1 or 7.1 surround capability. Depending on what kind of receiver you have, the DVD player, satellite/cable box, etc hooks to the receiver, those signals go out to the TV, and the speakers hook to the receiver. The receiver decodes the signal from the cable/satellite box or DVD player and routes it to the appropriate speakers. If the TV program or DVD isn't HD or coded for surround sound, the best you can expect is 2.1 channel stereo sound. OR, you can hook everything (DVD, satellite/cable box) to the TV and run an optical cable from the Digital Output of the TV to the receiver, which is basically the same thing, just a different way to hook everything up. Hope this helps

Hi, I have a Panasonic Blu-Ray Suround System with a Satellite HD box plugged into via optical. On normall channels the surround sound works fine, but when I switch to a HD Channel I get no sound. Any...

Check your sound settings on the satellite box, they might be set to output only to hdmi on hd, or the stereo/surround settings are messed up. If not giving a call to your sat tv provider might help because if it is a common problem they will know about it, and don't forget to do a full restart of the devices, this has worked wonders for me.

I had my system hooked up to my old tv to use the surround sound. I bought a new HD TV and can not figure out how to hook it up.

Look on the back of your tv for the same kind of jacks that are on your old one. Make sure you know what input you will be using for your reciever.

This is a site where you can download a manual. I'm not familiar with Denen however, you should be able to go out of satellite receiver(HDMI) to your receiver input(tv/sat) then to your HDMI input on tv. Your receiver might show video and sound through another port of receivers options, ie; video 1, video 2, etc. Check all putput options for your picture and sound. Hope this helps.

Do you have an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch? If so try i-Got-Control and the IRB1 attachment. It has codes for the Star Choice built in and if you need others, you can always learn from the other remote you have. This will put all the remotes (including your TV and DVD player) into the same iPhone (or other iOS device). www.i-got-it.com

OK. For all you regular Joe's like me here's the fix--plain and simple! I have Dish Networks HD receiver, an LG Home Theater System (LHB953) and an LG HD Television - although I suspect this applies for most LG TV-to-LG Audio Systems used in combination with a HD TV). My problem lied within the LG to LG setting known as SIMPLINK which tries to "auto-configure" everything between LG to LG devices.

Do this to make your HD TV (using Dish/DirecTV) play it's HD video display from the satellite provider but play the audio over the LG surround sound speakers:

1. Plug a HDMI cable from your satelite receiver's set-top-box to your HD TV. This will carry your HD "video" ONLY. Click "Input" on the TV remote until the HD video signal shows your desired TV channel from your satellite provider.

2. Plug an HD Optical cable (the one with the red laser) from your LG HTS (Home Theater System) to your satellite box. This will carry your HD "audio" ONLY.

3. This is the magic everyone seems to be overlooking. On the LG TV remote, go into the menu options and disable SIMPLINK by setting SIMPLINK=OFF. This feature allows the video and audio signals to be split over 2 different ports: HD video goes over the HDMI cable and the audio to go over the HD Optical cable.

Hope this helps!

dvi is just video. hdmi has both video and audio. dvi is still used because it is a standard for computers.

connect the audio from the audio rca jack to your TV / speakers. If you have surround sound you should use the SPDIF optical audio port - it'll be cleaner and support all channels.

Remember audio has to go to an amplifier or all-in-one box, which goes to your speakers. If your speakers are built into your tv you should be able to plug it in directly and then select the audio channel on your TV. If you plug it in and you still don't hear anything it's a problem with selecting the correct audio input on your TV / amplifier

Overloading

hi mate, ive had the same problem before with this amp. i bought it new aout 6 years ago and bought another new one about 1 year ago, new, for £70!

on the first amp there was a problem with the surround sound aspect, it kept overloading when turned up even a fraction, it would tick 4 times and power off. Eventually the surround sound stopped working all together and whenever selected made a VERY VERY loud hissing/crashing noise through all my speakers, blowing one of them, SO BE VERY CAREFULL.

when that happened i assumed was broken so bought another one, and had same overload trouble when i got a new speaker package.

Im pretty dam sure it was the ohmage ratings being different on 2 of the surround sound speakers that srewed the 1st one, so id suggest you check theyre all ok, as well as the speaker watt-age.

what are the specs on all your speakers (ohms and watts RMS)??

do you listen to LOUD music through the 5.1 option??

hope this helps, if all else fails buy a new one mate, theyre so cheap. go into panasonic shops and see if they have any left.

No sound when using dish or regular tv

This may be old news but just in case ...

Typically you need to consider the surround system as the central point for sound distribution (and in newer receivers, the distribution point for video signal as well). So you need to think of your TV and Satellite as sound sources and connect them to the IN side of your surround sound system. From the back of your TV then, look for the Audio OUT (commonly Red for right and White (or black) for Left. Connect these to the IN on the back of the surround system. Likewise for your satellite box. Then make sure you select the appropriate source on the surround system. If the system supports the video signal, you can route that as well. Beware that you'll need some sort of simulation (provided by the Phillips unit) to upconvert stereo to surround ... check the manual online. If you post model numbers for the Phillips and satellite units, we might be able to direct you more specifically (provided we can find manuals online)
