That particular model does not have a backlit screen. The original Gameboy advanced models like yours all had no backlights and this was a major flaw in the systems design. There was a company that made something called the afterburner. This was a backlight system that you could add to the gameboy, but it was pretty tough to install correctly as you had to take the entire system apart and could damage things. Your best bet would be to trade in your current model at a gamestop or similar store and try to pick up a Gameboy Advanced SP model (the square one). The Gameboy Advanced SP was a redesign of the original GBA and featured different dimensions, and a larger / backlit screen.

I have the same problem...I've heard that it's the battery in the game cartridge that has gone dry....People have said to go to a jeweler to get a tiny battery to replace it, but youll have to open up the cartridge...

Hi! I am experiencing difficulty with the brightness on the screen of my GameBoy Color. Is there a way to adjust the screen brightness, so that it would be brighter? -Stine

Unfortunately, the Game Boy color has no backlight, so there's no way to make the screen any brighter. You can change the contrast, but that will only affect how dark things appear on the screen. Sorry.

Dark Screen even when i adjust the 'brightness' tab?

check the power settings on te unit, if it is set to default for the backlight, possible that your LCD's backlight is not powering up properly on the unit or LCD's backlight needs replacement.

Is the gameboy agb-001 suppose to light up?

No, that one doesn't have a backlight. The next-generation gameboy advance does, but the first one.

The screen is dark on my e71; the back light is off

It seems you have a backlight failure. If you can still see the screen on the device (as far as texts and pictures), you would simply need to replace the screen in the device.
