Toshiba 42H83 My toshiba 42H83 recently starting having an alignment problem where I can see a shadow image in red out of align of the rest of the picture. Is this an easy fix?

I'm seem to have a convergance problem, but I tried to align the the tv manully and it would not move. It seems to be manily on one half of the tv. Shadows and wave on one side of the tv. Tried Touch Focus and the manual and the crosses would not line up.

Most projects in life are "easy",if you know how.Chassis will have to be pulled,convergence IC's replaced w/top quality parts to prevent recall.Some excellant soldering will be needed for prevent maintenance,for instance,the steel jumper wires feedig b+ to convergence IC's. RE-align in servicer mode==final step.

Projection TV sets have several common problems listed below.

Problem #1) Convergence

Symptoms:

Screen Looks 3D
Colors wont align
Screen may look distorted
No Audio/Video - TV makes a chirping sound.

Problem #2 CRT Fluid has clouded over. Symtoms

Dull looking video
White looking video
Halos around objects
Red/Orange looking video

Since this morning my Toshiba 42H83 TV's picture is blurry and has red and green shadows. We have checked all connections and unplugged all devices.

Go into the customer menu for the TV. Select convergence and if you find the colors are skewed or will not align you have a convergence problem.

I am going to post a few photos here of what this looks like--not all will look the same but you will know if it is your problem.

If it is your problem I can tell you what is needed to fix it--for many it can be a do it yourself repair.

Convergence issues with Toshiba 42H83 - Red lines will not align

Absolutely! if the consumer control has failed to rectify the problem you need expert help. There are two control boards near the power supply 1 or both are involved and more than 90% of the time both of the boards have to be replace otherwise the problem will occur again in a short time.
It is not a DIY project for the unskilled as it has to be tuned correctly when it is installed.
Better to leave it to the professional

Toshiba 42H83 Touch Focus Problem

I just got finished repairing the same model . The convergence modules are bad cost of repair is 250.00 for a service center to fix. My advice would be call your local service center tell them what i told you bad convergence ic and ask them how much they charge,

Hi you have bad convergence ic stk modules ,Cost for repair center to fix is 250.00. call your local repair center ask there prices on convergence ic repair. It is a very common problem every 3 to 5 years .Our service center does a lot of these.

Toshiba 42H82 convergence problem

Replace STK convergence IC's w/OEM or better parts.Senior tech soldering ability needed. Ex==Steel jumper wires feeding b+ to conv. IC's need resolder to prevent call-back.Also, best re-alignment done in service mode==consult service literature.

your convergence amp ic's./if you want to cheat/align the other two colors and manualy move the green yoke rings on the green picture tube neck so the green cross aligns with the red and blue.,they shuold form white when all three are aligned,on top of each other.
