Remove kick plate, look inside the tube to see where the element goes thru the tube. there are two plastic nuts, turn off power, disconnect wire terminals, remove nuts, pull old element thru inner tube, relace in reverse order.

Whirlpool GU1200XTLB1 dishwasher takes over two hours to finish cycle. is there a reset? or some other problem?

Check the wash cycle mode setting you have selected. Refer user manual. Two hrs cycle looks to be OK.

Check the water inlet flow also. Clean strainer. Slow fill of wter will lengthen the time of operation.

Whirlpool dishwasher wont change cycles

wow, good move with the heating element. most folks don't know about how that relates. if that stuff is good, it must be the timer. or at least the small motor which turns the timer. good luck

Replace Heater Element for Whirlpool Model GU 1200XTLB1 Dishwashr

Look inside the dishwasher to see where the heating element terminals are. If they are in front you might be able to change it but if the element is in back, you will need to have the dishwasher pulled out to install the element.
