Smc2804wbr barricade wireless functions properly, however the 4 ports for wired connectivity lose link frequently to the point of not being able to use them at all. anyone else seen this? I have replaced Cat5e cables, firmware updates, hard reset....etc.
I have the same router model. After 3 years of use , all 4 ports wont auto-negotiate anymore..SMC customoer care no longer supports old models and u must pay for advice.
You can manualy set the speed ( its a temporary fix). Go into network settings ,properties of your network card . go into configure ( the network card). Select Advance tab, choose Link Speed Duplex Mode , itll give a list of Speed settings, by default its in AutoNegotiate. Work your way down the speed setting list until the defunct router is happy with the manual speed setting selected. There must be a chip inside the router that selects the speed , it probably burns out after awhile, who knows , I tried re-installing firmare of all versions , no go. Ill just buy a different brand router next time

Check the network settings on the computer connecting to this ports (speed, half or full duplex, etc)

I should have mentioned that I have all pc NIC`s set to auto-negotiate. No help. The router interfaces still drop connection.
