The horizional out (HOT) has probably shorted. Sometimes the flyback transformer is also bad. Parts to fis it is about 30 to 50 bucks,Thats assuming you can replace it yourself. Hope this is helpful.
It is usually large and black. Its the one with the rather thick red wire coming out of it. The other end of that wire either connects directly to the picture tube or into a distribution block which distributes the high voltage to the 3 picture tubes (guns) in projection TV's. Be aware that this transformer produces high voltage and can store voltage even when the set is unplugged. I hope this helps.
Yes the flyback is one of the most likely components to fail on that chassis , and they are very easy to replace. You can get a new replacement at the following link and they provide free on line tech support with instant messageing to help you do the repair. You need flyback number 239111
What was replaced by the repair shop? The blurriness may be out of focus. If so, the focus is controled by the flyback transformer. That connects to the picture tube at the top (anode cap).
Here are some numbers to call for Flyback Replacement
Electronica 1-800-772-5578
Asti 1-800-221-1828
you will need RCA chassis# PTK195s16p - flyback number1541938b.
ThankYou for using FixYa. Have a Nice Day.
No sir it probably isent a power supply problem as in these sets it wouldnt act like that. First thingm to check since you say your a service tech, is in the horizontal output check and see if the horiz. output transistors shorted. If its not then check a small coil off the base of the horizontal output transistor. its really the base drive coil so take it out and scrap off the ends BOTH ENDS and reinsert and also resolder the horizontal driver transformer. This may or may not fix your problem But if it dosent order if you think ther sets wrth it the flyback transformer as this is a big problem in these sets if the for mentioned things did do the trick. follow the kit instructions that come with the flyback transformer!! Dont take any short cuts. Make sure you do take out the horizontal output transitor or at least unsolder all the leads when tesating it for a short. Good luck
