Im getting unable to print 50 error on my brother mfc 665cw

The paper jam you had probably lifted the long, thin, plastic encoder strip out of its slot. It is making the printer think paper is still jammed. Try gently pushing the strip back into the slot. You might have to use a screwdriver or other thin instrument to get to the strip.
Be sure printer is off when you do this.

Will not print or shut off comes up unable to print 50

Hi,
I had this same problem and it is an easy fix. It is similar on all brother printers but mine was a 5860CN.

Lift the lid on your printer and at the back you can see the opening where the print head is.
With the power off, use your finger to move the print head into the middle.
Now feel under the lip of the cover at the front of the gap and you will find a plastic strip that runs from one side to the other. This is the encoding strip and it what the print head uses to read where it is. This encoding strip is easily pushed out of position when a paper jam occurs and all you need to do is to get it back into position. Using both hands use a finger on either side of the print head and lift the encoding strip upwards slightly and move slightly towards the back of the printer. This will locate it back into the correct position in the print head when you release. You can feel this with your fingers. Power back on and the problems will be gone!
Remember and be gentle so as not to damage the encoder strip!

I'm getting an error saying Unable to print 30

  1. Clean all feed wheels and guides with methylated spirits.
  2. Look for any switch or guide that may be bent or out of place. This could have been damaged when a jam was removed.
  3. Look for any small piece of paper or staple that may have lodged in the paper path somewhere.
  4. Ensure the paper is dry. Not stored in a cupboard in the kitchen or the printer is not setup infront of an air vent.

I have a brother mfc 665cw printer, had a printer jam, cleared the jam and now recieve unable to print 50 error, unable to copy or print. Have found some information about the encoder strip but I have no...

Normal 0 I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it will feed through the printer. The reason for this is in some cases I have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there over time.
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps. Bud
