Dyson won't roll over carpet smoothly

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties using your DC14 on this particular carpet. It might help to check you have your brush control adjusted to the correct setting - you can find out how to do this in the user guide supplied with your cleaner. In case you don't have this to hand, here's an online copy:

It's also a good idea to follow the steps shown in our online support guide, to check that the soleplate is correctly fitted, and that there are no blockages in the cleaner head:

You may wish to contact your carpet manufacturer to check it's suitable for cleaning with a vacuum cleaner equipped with a revolving brush. Manufacturers sometimes recommend cleaning certain types of carpeting using suction only.

If you have any further queries about using or maintaining your Dyson vacuum cleaner, please get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to provide the information and assistance you need. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

How do you prepare the driftlifter powerbrush for operation? What kind of cleaner should I use? How do I put it in the machine?

Don't use the Bissell, Hoover or Dirt devil cleaner products in your machine. They are a petrolium based and will eventually gum up the machine. Use an alcohol based product put out by Riccar. It dries faster and won't leave a sticky residue in your carpet.

I have a new steam vac power max without instructions I need to know how to operate it

Hiyas ive found you an online downloadable manual go to this site and after its loaded look where it says product manual and click on that then click on the product manual again and it should open a new window showing the manual, when this window is fully loaded click on the disk top left to save a copy to your computer for printing

Bissell 9500 ProHeat 2X Clean Shot Upright
How do you change machine from carpet cleaning to hard floor cleaning?

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
The Bissell 9500 ProHeat 2X Clean Shot Upright are mainly designed to do mostly carpet, you can use it for bare floors, but for good wood floors I would use less water and pickup the water ASAP because you don’t want the good wood floor to warp - linoleum floors are fine but be careful with wood floors, and remember that the Bissell 9500 ProHeat 2X Clean Shot Uprights
Clean on the pull back, you squeeze the trigger, dispense water, the machine will use the scrubbing brushes to clean and the vacuum will pickup the water all in one smooth motion.
For further information please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in the area or the yellow pages or contact the Bissell Factory @ the information listed below: By Phone Customer Service:

Hoover Windtunnel 3 air cordless vacuum: Broke the brush-head off the body & can't get it apart to fix it. I broke both legs off the Fork which holds the vacuum head to the motor housing / body of the vac while trying to engage the upright-position-lock. I can't get the remains of the swivel-piece off to glue the fork legs back on to it. I took the screws out of the motor housing, but the housing halves still seem to be joined by the swivel, and I don't dare pry too hard. Any help out there? ************************************************************* HEY! I figured it out! All I had to do was take out the chrome screw & washer at the pivot point for the brush-head (which I thought was the motor housing, but it's not), opposite the brush-head itself, and force the metal shaft which the screw was in out of the housing, which was hard as hell. I got another screw similar to the original (metric, M4 x 0.7 x approx 35mm long) and screwed it part way into the hole the previous screw came out of, then I hammered on it fairly gently but repeatedly and it came out the other side bit-by-bit. (If you use the original screw to hammer on, you'll destroy the phillips-head recess.) It's extremely awkward to figure a way to brace the vacuum against the hammer blows without damaging anything, but if it's not braced solidly I doubt the shaft will ever come out. I can barely believe a press-fit in a plastic part held SO tight!
