SOURCE: Inner Cover error on Canon PIXMA ip4300 printer
This is a "Sensor" issue, there is a sensor that detects when the Cover is closed, this is either faulty, not being activated, or being activated but not registering at the CPU. Sometimes it is an actual switch, others it is a hall effect sensor, optical, magnetic sensor or the like. Have a squiz and see if ya can see any sensor etc. maybe its blocked etc. Otherwise I think it's gonna have to go 4 repair.. If so get a firm "Quote" B4 allowing them to proceede.
SOURCE: error is inner cover is open.
The "inner cover" can be seen if you open the paper output door, which
you have to do to open the "printer cover" to get inside the machine
and install the ink cartridges. The inner cover is a black bar right
inside here. Push it up firmly enough , and it will snap up.

Sai.
SOURCE: my mp600 keeps saying close inner cover-which is closed
I had the same issue, turning off didn't solve it.
There's a plastic flap the width of the print tray just inside that I flipped up and it solved this problem. It is directly in front of the ink tanks. I'm assuming we flipped it down and forgot about it. It seems it needs to stay up, although you wouldn't notice it when it flips down when you close the top, as it closes just fine with it down. It's easy to overlook. This took me a few hours to realize.
The top of the flap has a half circle cut out of it in the middle.

SOURCE: Canon Pixma ip3000 flashing amber 6 times
If the 6 flashes are accompanied by an on screen message #5400, this is a "Service Call Error" code.
This code indicates the following;
Internal temperature error [5400]
The solution to this is the following part replacementl
- Logic board ***'y (QM2-1548) *1
*1: Before replacement of the logic board ***'y, check the waste ink amount (by service test print or EEPROM information print). If the waste ink amount is 7% or
more, also replace the bottom case unit (QM2-1205) or the ink absorbers (QC1-4222 / 4223 / 4224 / 4263 / 4264 / 4864 / 4221 / 4257) when replacing the
logic board ***'y.
[See Section 3-3. Adjustment / Settings, (6) Service mode, for details.]
