better open the modem and short circuit pins for power switch...
so that you modem will stay ON all the time...and if you want to turn OFF the modem you can cut off the power supply to the modem....

I would hook your laptop up directly to your broadband modem and bypass your router to rule it out. Plug the network cable from your modem into your laptop. Unplug the power on your broadband modem and plug it back in. Restart your laptop and see if you get on-line.

If you can...your router is the issue. If you cannot....I would check with your internet service provider before troubleshooting further.

I suspect this has more to do with flexing the mainboard than the modem. Try pushing down on the board while holding the power button down.

check the phone line if properly inserted to the modem. if ther is no DSL light present on the modem it means that you are not sync in the cabinet.

If you connect the computer directly to the modem, does it work?
If that works then the modem is working.
Now connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
You will need to open the set up page of the router to check the settings of the router.
You can set up the router without the CD also.

unplug the modem then router, each for 15 or more seconds seperately. Do this a few times or until they recognize each other.

goto control panel and open " phone and modem options" in that go to "Modems " Tab , U can see there option to "Add" the modem . Click that , it will automatically search for the modem connected to your system. After detecting the modem your search for the option "Query Modem" , access that and add the modems speed as 560000 kbps ..thats it ..your modem will work.

what do you mean it wont recognize the modem, it should just transfer the data from the modem threw the ethernet cable and convert it to wireless.

Changes on the modem can be done by pulling up its interface. The interface of the modem can be pulled up by typing the default gateway of the modem in the address bar of a browser.

Once you are able to pull up the interface, play around on the buttons and look for the NAT?GAMING option and enable it.
