Please can you help. My Packard Bell PC started freezing a lot, then the monitor screen started going all liney. I changed the RAM and gave it a thorough clean out and it seemed OK for a while but now it won't boot, goes to 1st bios screen and freezes with no beep on start up and no keyboard response.

SOURCE: Freezes up after short time.

This is probably an over heating CPU(processor). Make sure the fan over the processor is working. If it is, check to see if the heat sink is fastened properly to the motherboard - if you can push on any of the corners and it moves in than there's an issue.

Also look for a thick layer of dust that might be blocking the air flow.

Please look on the case of the PC, fron back & sides. There should be a model number. (There is no such number you posted, Packard Bell UTOW CO20).

SOURCE: AV8 Motherboad post code C5 freezes on boot.

Hi...

Try cleaning the contact point of the memory modules "with a pencil eraser" and insert them back... Clean also the Processor heat sink if dusty... Then check the voltage of the CMOS (3V) battery it maybe dead, if so you need to replace that with the same type.
Keep me posted if still does not work...

Happy fixya...

SOURCE: mother board freezes on abit logo wile starting....

Hello Carlos,

Did you open the powersupply and check? I have recently worked on a PC with a similar fault and I found that the circuit board is partly charred and couple of capacitors leaking. I advice that you check it and post back..( I can't forget that repair coz I got one hell of a shock while working on it)

most of the time on older monitors you can set the refresh rate in safe mode and that will, most of the time, resolve the problem otherwise time to purchase a newer monitor.

Some programs need a substantial amount of RAM and in case of computers with smaller RAM, they tend to freeze. Either close some of the running programs or increase the RAM capacity. In every likelihood it should work.
