My Pantech Jest got dropped in my dish washer which had a pool of water at the bottom. The call button and hang up button work. the 2 side are not working. It kept calling that last person I called before...
You skipped an important step: after removing the battery, thoroughly rinse the device in distilled water to remove corrosive ions. Dishwasher water is especially bad; it has soap and chlorine bleach residue in it. That's why you're having problems with bad connections on the side buttons and shorts causing unwanted redialing. You can still try the rinse, but to save the phone, you may have to take it apart and clean out the corrosion. If you are lucky, disconnecting the side switch assembly and cleaning the connectors will solve some of the problems; otherwise it may have to be replaced. A soft pencil eraser (usually the kind that's colored white) does a good job of polishing connector contacts if they are accessible. Search for a YouTube video of the disassembly procedure for your phone - generally the connectors have "secret" latches that must be opened to remove the ribbon cables without destroying something. Remove any eraser crumbs before putting things back together.
Note: the electronics in the phone are vulnerable to electrostatic damage. Do the work on an antistatic mat, and make sure you are wearing an antistatic wrist band connected to the mat. If possible, wear low-static clothing while working inside the phone, and don't let anyone else touch you (transfer of static charge) while you're doing it.
