Inverter part no

Can anyone find the part no for the inverter from a HP compaq nc6320 laptop. A service manual or parts list would be a great help too.

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

You can find partlists on HP Partsurfer. But it looks like the inverter is included in the LCD assembly on these models.

If you post the modelnummber I can check if I can find a partnumber at work. It should look something like this AA111BB#CC.

Display problems

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my instructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

My hp compaq Presario V6500 has been damaged and a computer dude in Bathurst NSW said we need a bulb replaced in the screen as it won't light up. Computer functions via TV. R there any local repairers for...

The monitor screen on your laptop is an LCD screen.

An LCD screen cannot produce enough light by itself. It needs an additional light source.
The additional light source is a Backlight.

A Backlight is a CCFL.
Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp.
Similar to Fluorescent lighting used in homes and businesses, but on a MUCH smaller scale.

LCD screens are a composite of layers. The layers are held together by a metal frame, much like a picture frame.
The Backlight is usually located on one side, accessed after removing one side of the metal frame.

As stated, a Backlight is a very small type of Fluorescent lamp, (Tube)
Very fragile, easily breakable, and not usually approached by one who has very little, or no experience in replacing.
More common the entire LCD screen is replaced, which includes the Backlight already installed.

A laptop also needs an Inverter to provide power, both for the LCD screen, and the Backlight.

90 percent of the time the fault is the Inverter.
I repeat, 90 percent of the time the fault is a bad Inverter.

An Inverter is cheaper than an LCD screen, and MUCH easier to replace than a Backlight.

Allow me to show you replacing an Inverter on an HP Pavilion dv6000 series laptop.
Granted, it isn't an HP Compaq Presario V6500 series, but the principles still apply the same,

http://www.insidemylaptop.com/remove-replace-lcd-screen-inverter-hp-pavilion-dv6000-laptop/

I can also provide a free link, to the Service Manual for an HP Compaq Presario V6500 laptop, direct from HP Support,

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3369429&

In the list click on;
Compaq Presario V6500, V6600, and V6700 Notebook PCs-Maintenance and Service Guide

This is a PDF file.
Allow up to 30 seconds to see the first page, and an additional time may be needed to fully download.

In the Bookmarks menu on the left click on the + sign next to;
1) Removal and replacement procedures
2) Component and replacement procedures
3) Display assembly

And/or go directly to Page 61 to view the Inverter location.

One example of an Inverter for an HP Compaq Presario V6500,

http://www.sparepartswarehouse.com/Compaq,Presario,V6500,Laptop,Inverters.aspx

Granted this is not what you asked for.
My premise is to teach, and hopefully save people money.

If you have additional questions please state in a Comment.

Low brightness

The problem is related to the bakclight of your laptop. It could be either the CCFL tube-a tiny incandescent tube which lights the LCD- or the inverter-an electronic circuit that powers the CCFL tube. The most common is an inverter board failure, so you will have to start by replacing the inverter board.
You can buy a new inverter board from here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/LCD-Inverter-HP-Compaq-NC6220-NC6230-NC8000-NX7300-/270491480835?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3efa8c7303#ht_1814wt_1141
here's a guide with information on how to disassemble the laptop:

Need mother board for HP Compaq nx6110

HP/Compaq motherboards are system specific rather than industry standard. The only way to obtain a new motherboard is to contact HP/Compaq or an authorized HP/Compaq repair center. If you are interested in a used board you can check places like ebay and see if anyone has the board for your system available. Hope this helps.

OS?

Check the "Power Options" in your "Control Panel" (classic view). For whatever option you have picked, click "Change plan settings". There you can either "Restore default settings", or manually "Change advanced settings". If you choose "advanced settings", look for "Display" / "Display brightness".
