Username and password acepted- tries to connect the page

Some relatively easy things to check initially:-
Can you get to other websites? If not then your internet connection is down.
If you are on the internet, can you get to the facebook login page here:

If you can try entering your username and password. This should take you in but if not go back to the login page and enter your username and then click on "forgotten password" link and proceed through the pages and they will send you a link to change your password, and this should get you in.

To recover your Gmail password, please begin with these steps:

Connect your computer to your router using an Ethernet cable. Turn off your wireless card so your computer will use the Ethernet connection. Now go into Network & Sharing Center and click on "Change Adapter Settings." Now right-click on your Ethernet/LAN connection and click on "Status." A window will pop up showing that you are connected and will display other information. Click the "Details" button and look through the list until you find an IP address under "Default Router" or "Default Gateway." (The most common IP address for routers is 192.168.0.1). Go into your web browser and enter the IP address you find beside Default Router/Gateway. A page will come up showing the brand name of your router and a login page. If you don't know the username/password, you can search online to find the default username and password for your router. After you enter the username/password, you can go into your settings and add a WPA key to your router. A page will come up asking you to enter a passphrase to use for your password. Choose one that is somewhat long and very hard to guess (try using a mixture of letters, numbers and symbols). Once you set your password, you will have to enter that password for every wireless device you use to connect to your router. It helps to write your password down on a sticky note and placing it under your router so you can easily find the password when you need it.

Step 2:
Click on the Administration tab.

Step 3:
Enter the new password in the Password field and Re-enter to confirm.

you can try resetting the linksys router once by pressing and holding the reset button using a toothpick for 30seconds when the power is turned on...then open the linksys router setup page by typing 192.168.1.1 in internet explorer...go ahead and change the connection type as "dynamic"(if you donot use any username,password for going online) or change the connection type as "pppoe" and enter the username and password over there in the fields provided...it ll fix your problem for sure....

AOL have a couple of special requirements for the username and password which can catch you out.
