I have just got myself a new laptop (Yay!) and thought I'd try out the new programmes already installed.
I tried loading my report on the word programme already installed and it asked for a 25 character Product Key.
I don't believe I was given one...
Can anyone help me out with one?
Hi,
In my experience, when you're buying new laptop especially with Windows Vista Bundled (pre-installed), they will also install Microsoft Office 2007 Evaluation Version, which mean you have to supply activation code which also mean you have to buy it! (the license). Except the full version of Microsoft Office has been stated as "included" in your purchase.
If you don't want to bother to invest by buying Microsoft Office 2007, you can try to use "open office" which is free and support Microsoft office format also (http://www.openoffice.org/)
Hi VeeChee,
Quite frequently Microsoft will bundle a trial version of MS Office with their operating system on new computers. If you want to use their software, you'd still need to pay for the license. I personally loathe this sales technique, but it is what they do. Now you have two options...
1: Register the MS Office which came with the OS on your new laptop and pay and arm and a leg to Microsoft.
2: uninstall MS Office, go to www.openoffice.org and download the totally free Open Office from Sun Microsystems. All MS office files are completely compatible with OpenOffice.
Good Luck!
Thanks for using FixYa.

By the way I'm running on Windows Vista too. I'm not sure if that'll make a difference in what Keys are needed.
I don't know to be honest with you.
I just went into the computer store (PC World -gag-) and bought a laptop.
I'm still getting to know my way around it.
But I don't think so...
Thank you very much!
Its all worked! <33
