I want to call it flickering but in reality it's less frequent than flickering would be considered. It's not always the same pattern either (several quick bursts vs one or two). When it goes out it's as fast as turning a light bulb on and when it comes back it's just as fast. I'm wondering if it is the bulb but I don't want to spend the $ on such an old TV if it's actually more like a circuit board issue. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

After 11 years???? OMG This set is a tired pup and should be put to reast. My experience with older sets and your complains are all capacitor problems and is only gonna get worse as the first time around repair will take several capacitors to repair. This set has no user serviceable parts inside so you should not attempt a repair suchj as this on your own.. This repair if you decide to go through the first time will be About 300 to 600 bucks the first time and cost will continue to raise till the sets put to sleep. Good luck

You are dealing with bad solder connections. The solution is to pull the board, put it under a magnifying glass and resolder all suspicious connections. before going too far with pulling the chassis, look over all the boards near the egde under the tubes. Be sure there is no liquid present, if there is give it up the set is toast. If not then continue on and place piece of plastic draped over the front of the left and middle boards to about 5 inches in towards the center just before putting the back on the set.

its just a condenser(capacitor) ..so just try to locate it ..from the image board..cause Im sure that all this time the sound its still on ...just carefully measure 'em all and locate it ...after that just change it with another one or try to put something similar on the same size.. I can not tell you the exact one cause Im not familiar with the model ...but I do had this problem with the concentrated horizontal (middle screen ) line ...and always was about this ....

No parts are needed. You need to resolder the DY connectors on all the yokes.

Thanks for the response Kramd. The problem has somehow gone away (for now). I bought a new LED and moved this TV into another room. It hasn't been an issue since the move across the house. Unfortunately, it didn't matter what source device I was using but that was a great thought.
