Hello, I'm new with wireless routers (and computers pretty much) and I bought that one (belkin plus...)
Now I have a problem because I don't know how to make it work (from the beginning). The instructions are really bad. So I would be glad if anybody could "led" me from the beginning to the end (I have laptop).
Thank you I am not computer literate, and like the previous enquiry I have trouble understanding the instructions, I have an hearing disorder that makes instructions over the phone difficult when phoning an English number and no chance at all when someone from another country answers, this is not their fault it is me, My problem is we have a Belkin ADSL 2+ F9630-4 wireless modem, and I cannot follow the instructions to install it, my PC knowledge is so bad that I do not know what a LAN is, Could you please give me step by step instruction on how to load it on to my pc, we currently have a standard modem supplied with Tiscali broadband, I have tried several things and parts of it may already be on the pc, and others may have to be removed, Can you please help,
I do not read books, but if I did choose a book to read it would be PCs for idiots
Hi there, I totally understand your position. Your router would have a disc (software) which you need to pop into the laptop and follow the step by step instruction. I presume that your laptop is wireless capable. After installing the software, makes sure that the wireless on the laptop is switched on. On some laptops this means pressing the blue button (bottom left on keyboard) labelled "fn" and at the same time pressing another button at the top of the keyboard which has a small antennae picture (icon) looks like a y with an extra line between. An indicator light will show that this is active. You then plug the cable which is supplied from the Tiscali broadband modem to the router plug labelled internet. The other four outlet plugs or ports are there in case you want to connect your laptop directly to the router with a cable. If you now switch on the router and reboot (switch off the laptop and then on again) your laptop. The laptop will automatically "find" the wireless router. It will also guide you through step by step procedure of passwords and so on. I hope that this is sufficient info to get you going. Goodluck
Okey, basicly what you want to do, is to plug the ethernet or lan wire that goes into the modem, and other end goes to your computer. You want to take that wire, keep the other end in the modem and the other end plug it to the wireless router, on the port that says internet or uplink, or port 1.
Then you want to plug your computer with a wire to the wireless on port2, or wireless if you have wireless adapter. there should be no security so when you set it up like this, then you should be able to connect to the wireless with a computer that has a wireless network adapter. So on that computer look for wireless networks, and click on the new network, its default or something, if you dont' know which one it is, just turn it off for a moment and see which network dissapears or appears. then just double click on that and it should connect.

Usually you don't need to setup any additional settings or creating new users on the Belkin router to access an USB HDD attached to it, if you used the Belkin Router Manager to set it up.
The Seagate drive you are using have it's own power supply, so that should not be a problem. Also the accepted formats are FAT16, FAT32 and NTFS formatted HDD.
Your wireless network must be secured You will need to check the wireless settings of the router. Is there any computer online using the router. check the IP address on that computer. If yes then you can open the router set up page on that computer. router set up page is the page where you can check all the router settings. Click Here for more information about the routers and network
You will need to check the wireless settings of the router
is there any computer connected to the router ?
If yes then you can open the router set up page on that computer.
Router set up page is the page where you can check all the wireless settings of the router.
If you connect the computer directly to the modem, does it work? If that works then the modem is working. Now connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router. You will need to open the set up page of the router to check the settings of the router. You can set up the router without the CD also. It is very easy. Click Here for step by step instructions about how to set up the router
You maybe able to reset the router to the factory default by powering up the router, press and hold the RESET button at the back of the router for 7 secs..
Then open a browser and type in the IP configuration address to reconfigure the router.
Know who is ur ISP(internet service provider)and what type connection. Is it come through TV cable or telliphone line
If it is cable type and if u have a modem
Firt u need to have 2 ethernet cables (RJ45 cable) connect ur laptop directly to to router number 3 slot and and connect ur modem to modem slot to back of the router .power cycle the modem and router, that is turn OFF the router and modem both and turn ON first modem and then router it should work
Take out the cable between the laptop and router and connect the computer to the wireless network .......... finish............
This is your password on the router. Do you know it? Are other computers on this router? If not you can hold the reset button on the back of the router for 30 seconds and it will reset to factory default. No network key needed, then log in to your router and set a new network key.
Check all other wireless devices within the range of the router, cordless phones, cellular phones, etc. Change the wireless channel on the router or possibly the other wireless devices.
2nd: check the Keep Alive setting in the router configuration if you have DSL. Set this accordingly
