MAYBE! Our Jenn-Air side by side has a similar model number to yours and it was recalled on March 10. Check on maytag's recall page to see if your fridge has been recalled by entering your model and serial number.

One year ago in March a burning smell was coming from our Jennair model JCD2389ges refrigerator. Soon there was smoke the circuit popped so refrigerator shut off. We unplugged then replugged refrigerator in but it was dead. We had the local appliance center come for repairs. They told us the compressor burnt up which was odd for a fairly new refrigerator. I am pleased to see this recall so now we know why it happened. We are now trying to get reimbursed for the cost of the repair last March. Just want others to be aware of recall and to follow through on it this could have caused major damage if no one was home.
