Try http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/installation_guides, specifically /133509/KENMORE-ELITE-Counter-Unit-Gas-1009556L?brand_name_search=32353. As a countertop fabricator that is where I locate all the manuals for Sears appliances. All the other appliance companies make it easy to find them on their websites... Sears not so much.
I can't imagine directing the downdraft vent back up to a traditional hood type system. Why bother, just don't use the downdraft or get a cooktop without a down draft and save money.
In granite, yes for any cooktop as long as someone can cut the correct size hole. Cooktops must be installed so the top is just about flush with the countertop. They all come with a template for cutting the right size hole in the countertop.
the reason for the fitting instruction for the regulator to be connected directly is that flex hoses deteriorate and allow a dangerous situation
AS gas is not in the diy domain I recommend that you get in an accredited gas fitter who will make a solid pipe to allow the fitment of the regulator away from the motor
While he is there he can adjust the regulator to get it all working correctly
We purchased a 36" elite model on ebay for our house we are building. I finally installed a year later only to have error codes 39 & 40. I completely dissasembled it and put it back together. No luck. However after much searching I found the service manual for the 36" Icon by Electrolux (same manufacturer as the Elite). The guts look mostly the same. Manual states your codes 10 16 12 are for defective key sensors. I found out that on my cooktop if I held a key for maybe 20 sec or more it would beep once - indicating the key was not defective.
