Search for a keyboard on eBay. Should be about $5-15. Type in "(model name) keyboard."

SOURCE: The backspace key on my Compaq laptop keyboard has

Your keyboard is actually one big circuit board and the keys touch small pads under them and over time these can fail or the sensor feeding the panel under the keys can fail. Open up a word program and test each and every key on the board. If the back key is the only one then it is most likely just a failure of that key and for the time being you can use the left arrow to back up...but you will need to replace the keyboard. I believe these are non serviceable pieces and should be replaced as a whole. I'll include a link below for the service manual for that model Compaq. Just copy and paste the guide to your internet browser address bar and hit enter. File is aPDF file and will need acrobat reader of foxit reader to open. Good luck, ParrotHead PC Repair

Some of my keys on my laptop are not working.

Replace the keyboard with a new one. Laptop keyboards are not that expensive.

Make sure that the replacement is compatible with your computer. To know more about it, please visit the website of your computer's manufacturer.

You can also try a USB keyboard to check if the non-working keys work with the other keyboard.

I hope this helps!

This afternoon my laptop was working fine, then the keyboard started messing up, when I pressed any letter it came up with 4 other letters. Then i pressed '9' once and it continuously typed 9 until I

First thing I would ask is this. Was anything spilled on the key board? I had a situation similar to this and I found that my son spilled a Sprite and wiped it up but didn't tell me about it. One way to check this is to hook an aftermarket keyboard that runs off your USB2 port and see if the keys work correctly that way. If they do, I would suspect that something was spilled into your laptop keyboard.

Nearly every device in your computer system can be turned off and on by accessing the Windows Device Manager with a few clicks of the mouse. It gives you plenty of flexibility and allows you to customize your computer on a whim. The Device Manager will allow you to enable your factory keyboard and mouse and disable your current ones, effectively resetting them to the default settings

Make sure that your default mouse and keyboard are plugged into your computer. Click on the Windows "Start" button in the lower right corner of your desktop. Type "Device Manager" in the "Start Search" box. Click "Device Manager" under "Programs." Click "Continue" if the Windows permission window pops up. Click the "+" next to "Mice and other pointing devices." Right-click the default mouse and click "Enable." Switch to your default mouse then right-click your other mouse and click "Disable." Click "Yes" in the warning popup window. Unplug the other mouse. Press the "+" next to "Keyboards." Right-click your default keyboard and click "Properties." Click the "Driver" tab then click "Enable." Click "OK." Right-click your other keyboard and select "Properties." Click the driver tab then click "Disable." Click "Yes" in the permission window then click "OK." Your computer is reset to the default keyboard and mouse.

Space bar when used produces 'bn' instead of a space and if pressed long turns the desk top upside down or side ways.

Check the language settings: Start>control panel>clock, language and region>region and language. Click on the keyboard and languages tab and click change keyboards. This will tell you the keyboard settings. If you need to change the settings, click on the add button and choose your preferred keyboard setting.

My daughters key board on her lap top has started to act crazy you can't backspace and you can not type double letters you have to wait a second for it to keep typing any suggestions

First, try to connect an external USB keyboard & see if it will work fine.
If the external USB keyboard works fine, then you will need to replace your laptop's keyboard, as there is almost nothing that can be done to fix a defective laptop keyboard.

Accidentaly spalshed some water on my laptop keyboard.

You may have to replace your keyboard at best. As this can be a difficult process depending on the laptop, I recommend a trained professional.
The loud beeping noise is called a beep code. One beep in most causes is a DRAM failure, which could mean that the problem goes deeper than a few messed up keys.
However once electronics become water damaged they are beyond repair. The minute amount of minerals in the water is enough to short out the tiny circuits in the keyboard and cause malfunction.

My keyboard is a mess when almost all the keys

They may have removed the keys to clean the keyboard and placed them back in the wrong spot.
Check the keys against another beyboard and see if the keys have been placed in the wrong spot.
Take it back to the people/company that did the work and tell then the keyboard is not working properly.
