If you are very sure that the problem you are facing is generated from eprom only then go ahead with this.
As per my experience the best way to replace eprom is to find a similar motherboard with similar eprom version and replace the eproms.
You can also buy a eprom from the market but again you will have to program that eprom for which you will need the eprom programmer, an electronic device which feeds a script in eprom and also you will require the script.

The software in the BIOS is stored on an EPROM (Eraseable Programmable Read Only Memory). So, buy some hardware, namely an EPROM writer, remove the EPROM chip from the motherboard, insert the EPROM chip into the EPROM writer, download the latest BIOS-software from IBM's web-site, and load the software onto the EPROM writer, and rewrite the software onto the chip. Remove the chip from the EPROM writer, and reinsert it into the IBM motherboard.

Reseting thorugh software(firmware) is also permanent solution

The sets have bad eproms. They cause all kinds of problems. also the ground connections around the tuner and microprocessor and eprom need to be resoldered using a silver solder alloy.

The supervisor (SVP) password is stored in a chip called 24RF08.It can not be reset by disconnecting the BIOS battery or shorting any jumper.

The best and probably the only way since it's a Haier is to transfer the old eprom to the new board. That's what we do. Good luck!

if u dont found the jumper to reset your cmos u have to do remove for your cmos bettry for few minits & your bious will be reset

Well this set's or kind of funny, they have issues with eprom and static problem that causes the set to do thing, that narmaly you wouldn't do in a marige life.
I narmaly try by reseting the unit, unplug the unit for about 10 min and try again to see if it reset, if it didn't then I would unplug the set take the back cover off then reset the cpu and the eprom by shorting the pin's on each ic's to ground, and then try again.
If for some reason your set don't work at the end well check all connection again, narmaly I solve 99% of the problem.
If this don't help, when you can replace the cpu and the eprom to solve your problem.

This is for code f489 as well as f498 F498 means a problem with flash eprom IC; meaning that unit is unable to read the basic instructions from the eprom IC. Can be cuased by several; may simply be a "bad connection issue" at the eprom Ic or somwhere in the Bus line--defective Ic or corrupted information which may or may not be recovered with a "service recovery" disc.(not an end user procedure) First step; try resoldering Eprom ic being careful not to bridge pins. second would be to take the unit to a AUTHORIZED ONLY repair shop for a firmware or eeprom update.
