2002 Chevy Impala driver's heated seat does not work

It was extremely hot a couple of weeks ago and now it does not work.

  • mik772 Mar 12, 2009

One night a couple of weeks back the seat warmer got very hot in 2 spots and then quit working. Love my car and planned to drive it several more years but have to have the seat warmer due to an old back injury.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would imagine that if you only felt the extreme heat in two specific spots on the seat, the element may have burned out and you basically have an open curcuit. According to the wiring scematic, the elements in the back rest and the seat itself are connected so neither work now. I've tried removing the leather from my seats to figure out if I can just replace the elements, but the elements are molded into the foam in the seat. Your only solution may be to replace the entire seat or to buy a ******** seat warmer. Most of these ******** heat warmers are rather cheaply made, though.

The heated seat (drivers side) in my 2002 impala quit working fuse are good.what can i do to fix this problem?

The element may be bad. Check at the wire harness coupling under seat with a test light to be sure you have current there. If you do then it is probably the element. In that case I advise taking it to the dealer or reputable shop for repair.

Use a flex head ratchet wrench to remove the seat, or temporary battery to power the seat, non power seat will fit but disabling you side air bag will shut down the whole SRS, and no air bags will work, this is against the law in some states

My drivers heated seat is not working in my 2003 chevy impala and it also shifts hard.

1.)heated seat is usually the heating elements under the seat cover.
2.)shifting is likely a pc solenoid and valve body.CODE associated with this is a p1811.If your vehicle has high miles or there is alot of debris in the pan of the trans, then I would suggest a reman trans.

My driver side heated seat has quit working. But passanger side still works. Is there a fuse i can check for this. Thanks 2001 chevy impala

more than likely it is the heating element in the seat that went bad. if there is a light on the switch it should be getting power and the heating elements under the seat coushin do go bad. it is not an uncommon thing.

My 2001 chevy impala heated seat stoped working, how do i fix this issue. where do i start troubleshotting, I replaced the fuse.. no good

It's very likely a broken wire to one of the serveral heating pads in the seat. The next possibility is the heater module which is located under the seat.
When I fixed the heated seat on my Pontiac Bonneville, I just pulled the seat out of the car. The heated seat wires are pretty obvious when you can see under the seat. I had an obvious broken wire that shorted against the seat spring. I repaired that had had resistance in the seat circuit. It turns out that my heater module was also bad. I switched it with the passenger seat and it works fine now. The module is about $80-100.
