How does one adjust the spring-loaded pressure regulator (?) on a Homelite 308653045 pressure pump. Can it be over-adjusted or under-adjusted, resulting in a breakdown?

Just bought a new pump. I am assuming that I am referring to a pressure regulator on the 308653045. There was no manual with the pump and I have no idea if the regulator (if it is a pressure regulator) is now set at the max or the min pressure AND if a breakdown will occur if the pumpt is over adjusted . . . either way..

Would start and get the pressure up, if it seems sufficient would leave alone if not would screw clockwise (believe this would increase press) until you think it is sufficient, always remember to hold pressure switch on wand in when starting as this helps relieve work on engine.

SOURCE: high/low pressure spring settings

Generally, the pressure switch is not adjusted more than once or twice in the life of the compressor since the discharge pressure can be adjusted with pressure regulator. However the life of the compressor can be increased if lower pressure settings are maintained. Your pressure switch was set at the factory to a setting of about 120 - 150. If your cutout pressure is higher than 150 surely lower.
STEP 1: Turn Main Calibration Screw ( center screw with large spring) clockwise to increase pressure and turn counter-clockwise to decrease pressure.

STEP 2: Turn Differential Pressure Screw (small spring) clockwise to decrease cut-in pressure and
turn counter-clockwise to increase cut-in pressure.

Differential Pressure is defined as the difference between cut-out and cut-in pressure. There should be about 7 to 12 psi difference between cut-out and cut-in.
In our shop we rarely adjust more than a couple of turns because these switches are sensitive.
Good Luck and please post again if you have other concerns about your compressor.

SOURCE: i have a pressure washer with a faip 3 piston

I think your main problem is that the unloader valve needs to be lubricated. Use the very best water resistant bearing grease you can find. If you can e-mail me a pic of your unloader assembly I can try to explain how to set it up. [email protected]

SOURCE: low pressure

Replace the pressure adjuster and everything will work. When you lose pressure and the adjuster is not adjusting to allow more or less then you need to replace it. It has a valve in there that is most likely broken and the valve is not opening and closing anymore.

Fuel issue in a xuv590m4 replaced Fuel pump and if it actually starts it will run

If the fuel pump is replaced and the pressure is still too high, then the issue may be with the fuel pressure regulator. The fuel pressure regulator is responsible for controlling the fuel pressure in the fuel system. If the pressure is too high, then the fuel will flood the engine and cause it to stall. You may need to replace the fuel pressure regulator or adjust it to the correct pressure.

Does anyone have a photo of the correct reassmbly on a Dewalt pressure regulator for d55155 air compressor

I do not have a picture, but maybe I can describe how to assemble. The rear of the regulator has a removable plug the reveals two parts, a spring and a valve with rubber seat, the spring goes against the plug and pushes the valve against the seat on the body of the manifold. I find that this valve gets stuck on the plug and will not work correctly, easy to repair however, just remove the valve from the plug and apply grease so that spring can work forcing the valve against the body of the manifold.
Reinstall the rear plug and verify that the valve moves by pushing down on part of the valve that sticks out from the adjustment knob side. Now for the knob side of the regulator. Insert the adjust screw into the housing with the square head first. This square head is what the adjustment knob turns to adjust the pressure. When installing this part, turn the adjust mut so that there is pressure on the heavy spring. Next on the adjustment screw is the heavy spring followed by the round plastic piston that has a lip seal on the outer groove. The piston lip seal goes installed with the open lip facing the body of the manifold and away from the heavy spring.
There is a small oring that is installed on the round plastic piston at the center. This small oring makes contact with the valve that you installed from the rear of the regulator. So that's it. I hope that you can make it work with this description. I have worked on many of these regulators and find that most of the problems arise from the valve on the back side of the regulator, getting stuck on the rear nut due to water. Next problem is the round piston with the lip seal cracks due to too mush tension when cranking down on the pressure adjustment knob. Finally the third problem is the small oring at the center of the round plastic piston will get out of shape and not seal against valve installed from the rear causing leak at the adjustment knob. Good luck

I've got ideling, running issue with my 1988 iroc.350 tpi.fuel rail not keeping pressure.

First, did you check the fuel filter to see if it was clogged (cheap fix to replace it if you haven't recently)? Second, there's a fuel pressure regulator at the back of the tpi rail (back by the distributor). This has a diaphragm and spring in it. If the diaphragm leaks, the fuel pressure will be erratic. If you're going to check the diaphragm, I'd recommend installing an adjustable fuel pressure regulator where the stock (non-adjustable) fuel pressure regulator is at. The rail also has a bleed down circuit which will drop the fuel pressure once the vehicle is shut off. Third: the in-tank fuel pump could be on the way out.

Well pump pressure switch clicking on and off

Most pressure switches have 2 spring loaded adjustments under the cover. The large one in the middle is for the pressure it pumps UP to before shutting off.(60-80 psi ?) The smaller one is the differential setting. The pressure it drops to before turning back on. If it won't respond to adjustments, replace it.

I adjusted both large and small springs on my pump switch trying to obtain cut out at 60 psig and cut in at 40 psig. Apparently, I have a pressure differential of 30 psig. It cuts in at 30 and cuts out at...

The large spring is for the cut in and cut off pressure, the smaller spring is for the differential in pressure, meaning it adjusts the lbs of pressure between cut in and cut off. Since you have adjusted the smaller spring you have a 30 psi differential instead of 20. To adjust turn the small spring counter clockwise 1 full turn or 360 degrees, then recheck the pressure differential (do not adjust the taller spring while doing this) You may have to repeat this two or three times. Once you have a 20 lb differential, then you can adjust the taller spring to get your cut in, cut out pressure. It works the same way. Clockwise for a higher pressure and counter clockwise for lower pressure. It's something you'll have to play with. It doesn't have to be exact, as long as it's close. Sometimes they are hard to get readjusted.

How do I adjust the pressure on an old Northstar Pressure washer. Honda 18.0 HP, GX610 V-Twin

The following link will give you great troubleshooting for all pressurewashers. http://www.pressurewasherservice.ca/serv02.htm

There are several way to increase pressure. Primary way is to turn the pressure regulator knob in the direction to increase tension on the spring. Pressure regulator is located on the pump (or very neer) and usually has a large spring. Sometimes the spring is hidden under a twist knob. If the adjuster seems to be already turned to max then you may need to just change the pressure tip. The tip/nozzle is actually where the pressure is created by restricting the flow of water thru a very small opening. Use a new tip of the same gpm flow that is required by your machine. 18 hp machine has potential for very high pressure and high gallons per minute. Use trouble shooting guide above for more information. Good luck

Adjusting fuel pump

If you have the 91 3.1 V6 Rodeo you can't adjust the fuel pump or fuel pressure. The only thing you can really do is to get a throttle body rebuild kit that will have a new diaphragm for the fuel pressure regulator. If you want to adjust it, you'll have to get an aftermarket regulator and install on the return line (the smaller line) and remove the spring out of the regulator on the throttle body. If you feel the fuel pressure is too low, then you might need to change the pump. Its located in the fuel tank, only takes 1 or 2 hours to do.
