Where to plug an ipod to back of board - Allen & Heath Allen Heath GL2400 32 Live Sound Console

The H4 has a problem with the inside back circuit board disconnecting from the main board. For that you have to take it apart.
Pretty easy for anyone technically inclined. If I remember, 4 screws.
Carefully, of course. Inside you will find the back board (where the power and audio inputs are) unplugged from the main board.
Plug back in, and put some kind of piece of rubber or even cardboard (I did that) retainer to put pressure on and avoid this happening again.
It is a design problem, I had to find out myself.

You need to get yourself a cable - with a 3.5mm male jack plug on one end (which will fit into your ipod), and a 1/4 inch male jack plug on the other end.

(you could use a lead with a 3.5mm male plug on each end, and used a 3.5mm female to 1/4 inch male adaptor to achieve this)

Connect the 3.5mm end into the ipod - play a track, with the volume at say, 75%.

Connect the 1/4 inch end of the cable to the 'Mix In' input in the back of your TD20.

Use the 'Mix In' control - at the top right hand side of your TD-20 module to control the volume.

If you wish only to have the iPod going to (for example) headphones - and not Front Of House (PA) speakers - which you will have connected via the Master and / or Direct Out(s); this can be achieved in the 'Mixer' settings (accessed via pressing the 'Mixer' button).

What you've done should have worked on the video input. The phono will not sound like you'd want. Have you made sure the mixer is working correctly by trying it plugged into a different amp using the same outputs and cable?

It is unlikely to find a compatible USB convertor for that digital recorder. If it has audio input you can probably use a similar cable to that for the IPOD described next. For the IPOD, get a 1/8 inch STEREO splitter cable that splits to 1/4 inch plugs or RCA plugs to connect to the PA system. Radio Shack will probably have a suitable one.

The ipod is stereo and the Marshall is mono. You would need to "mix" the left and right channels of the ipod. You could use a simple passive mixer made of two resistors, one from each of the two channels from the IPOD to a single plug for the Marshall. Just joining the two channels without the resistors would have the IPOD outputs fighting each other. You can use 1 K ohm resistors. All parts are available at Radio Shack.

The power amp input jack takes "line level" input BUT is monaural (single channel). The output of an ipod is Stereo. Hence you would have to "mix" the two channels before connecting to the Fender. Mixing does NOT mean just tying the two channels together. A minimu thing would be a passive resistive mixer consisting of a resistor from each of the IPOD channels to the common point going to the input of the Fender. Remember if you plug into the Fender power amp input you DISCONNECT the preamp and other circuits and would ONLY hear the IPOD input.

This is how it is designed to operate - the aux input is for practice use only and is only routed to the headphones socket and not the speaker. Your only options are to use a different amp for your IPOD or drum machine or to use a mini-mixer to input the combined signals of guitar and IPOD through the single input socket on the BG500

You use a Stereo splitter cable from the IPOD to two plugs than connect to the AUX inputs on the back.

Note that this only will amplify the IPOD, the mic inputs will be disabled... PROBABLY that is not what you want... but it is the way it works.

You would have to get a 1/8 inch to dual RCA plug stereo SPLITTER cable and connect to the jacks on the back.
You will be disappointed however, as the unit will disable the microphones when you send music into the jacks... The thing just acts as a straight amplifier in this mode.
The only way to have a microphone active AND the IPOD is to sacrifice one microphone and use a mixer of the IPOD stereo output into a mono line into one of the microphone jacks. You can build your own mixer by using a couple 1K ohm resistors from each of the IPOD's output (stereo) leads into a single plug to plug into where one of the microphones plug in. You cannot tie the two leads from the IPOD together or each side of the stereo would fight the other causing distortion, hence the resistors prevent this.

The IPOD generates STEREO signals and you would have to use a 1/8 inch STEREO to 1/4 inch WYE cable into TWO channels of the mixer.
If you use a MONO cable it shorts out one of the sudio amps in the IPOD and will creates distortion.
When you use the two channels to accept the 1/4 inch plugs of the WYE cable, you will set the PAN controls of the two channels you use to opposite ends to maintain the stereo signal in the mixer.
