In a smeg convection oven what is the pad on inside right side

The control panel is actually 2 different parts and either could be bad. Do you have the display still lighting up or is it completely dead? If it is out it could the main smart board. If it still lights but no buttons work then it could still be the smart board or just the key pads which are a separate part. Neither part can be fixed just replaced.

remove screws and pull it apart, find the bulb and replace it.(unplugged of course)

The cover has to come off the microwave to access the bulb. There are several screws around the back and sides. Remove these and the cover should lift off, revealing the bulb. For your own safety, make sure that the microwave has been unplugged from the outlet for several hours before attempting this repair.

usually not a fuse if other parts are running

There is only one fuse inside the unit. It may be the Magnatron, depending on its age. This would be an expensive fix. If its still under warranty I would call for a sevice before it expires

the door protection circuit needs attention, the door catches operate microswitches, but there is also a third which is a crowbar microswitch. if all three do not operate in the correct sequence then the safety switch or fuse will go.

The Magnetron has failed, causing the waveguide to become damaged. If the waveguide is damaged/burned the microwave can not be repaired and should be replaced.

I have a simular model and I found that the circuit board has three black relays, one for the grill one for the convection and one for the microwave. I found that the microwave one wasnt working so by swaping the microwave one with the convection one I got it to work and then replaced the faulty one with a new one at a later date.
