Need to replace cord on vintage Sunbeam Mixmaster Junior

There are two seemingly inaccessible screws (of the four that attach the handle to the "head" of the mixer). How do you get these out? Any tips on disassambling the rest of the mixer to be able to put a new cord in? I haven't tried to take the rest apart, since the two screws I mentioned hold the cord in place below the speed switch. It may be easy but I thought I'd ask for any tips in case there are other special
obstacles in the back part of the mixer. I really want to fix this one
because it worked great (before the cord frayed too much to be safe)
and it was my grandmothers', and the new mixers, at least the inexpensive ones, are crappy!
Thanks in advance!
Diane

For mixmaster junior, but should be relevent to many old sunbeams:

That's not the power cord going to the speed switch. You don't need to get those screws off.
To replace the cord:
Cut the old power cord near where it enters the blender.
remove the two front screws, pull off front housing.
remove 1/4" nuts found in recesses of exposed front plate.
pull speed handle out far enough to get a screwdriver under exposed front plate, and pry gently. It'll come off as it's a friction fit.
cooling fan blade is now visible, you need to remove it.
pry up gently on the teeth attaching it to the motor shaft.
Work your way around the 4 sets of teeth, it'll come off. Don't lose the two washers.
unscrew the electrical contacts.
take off the speednuts holding the brush assembly in place.
gently pull up on the brush assembly with a needle nose, until it comes out.
now remove the screws holding the motor coils in place. They're the same ones the speednuts attached to, and have hex heads you can get at with a needlenose.
once those are out, pull on the motor coils gentle, and wiggle them out of the housing.
You'll see the stub of the old power cord at the back of it.
Get a round replacement wire of the right diameter, thread it through the cord hole in the blender, and connect it up to the coils.
-I had to drill the power cord hole 1/16" larger than it was to get a modern cord to fit through it.
On the stub of the old cord, you'll see a metal ring which serves to anchor the cord in blender body. remove it (screwdriver + needlenose and pry), and attach to new cord at the righ position.
Put everything back together, being careful not to bust the carbon brushes.
Congrats, you now have a functional blender with a cord that won't try to electrocute you.

    Hey Blonk, thank you!
This worked great. Everything just as you describe. Watch the electrical contact wires when removing the brush assembly, don't pull them out of the coil.

How do I tighten the speed control dial on a vintage Sunbeam Mixmaster PowerPlus?

There is a cover plate over the screw that you need to tighten. This cover plate is held in place by two spring latches, 180 degrees apart. Use a small flat-tip screwdriver to depress first one latch, then the other. Don't use too much force - the latches are plastic and will break if treated roughly.

How to disassemble a sunbeam 2370 mixer

To disassemble a sunbeam mixmaster 2370, find four plastic snappers arranged at 1, 5, 7 and 11 o'clock around the front circle of vents. They can be seen with the help of a good flashlight. un-snap them and the top and bottom shells will separate. From there on, it is clips and screws. Good luck!

I have a Sunbeam Mixmaster from mthe 1970s,

If this mixer sits on a stand, first remove it from the stand. Turn it upside down and shine a flashlight into the right side socket to look for obstructions. When you say you swivel the head, do you mean you rotate the handle? This is how to eject the beaters after use. It may be that the ejector on the right side is stuck. If so, you will need someone with mechanical skills to disassemble & repair.
