Fault with main board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

The standby mode is a power saving feature. In this mode, a it does not shut down completely, just goes to low power state and so it consumes less power. When it resumes from the standby mode, full power is restored.. During the standby mode, if the power supply is disconnected or interrupted, data might be lost.

Did you un-installed the previous graphic driver? Quick remody:
keep pressed the power button of the cpu and press again to start the computer.
If the system freezes in the stand by mode again;
Uninstall all drivers and re-install it gain. this might solve the problem.

the picture comes for 2 secs on the screen and immediately goes to stand by and red LED Sony bravia standby mode blinks 8 times

turn stand by off.

Please press the power button once. It should go in standby mode.

just ckick on start-shutdown in that option you will get standby or just close laptop directly without shutting down & when u open it will come of standby mode....................Sameeraryan

goto control panel ---> power options

select power schemes. power schemes should be "home/office desk

below that check "standby". You can select the time to go computer standby or never to go in standby mode.

Generally you can just hit the space bar a couple of times, and that should bring the machine out of Standby mode. However, if it is not Standby but Hibernate mode, you usually need to push the power button to bring it back from Hibernate.

You can adjust these and other power settings by going to the Control Panel, and clicking on the Power Options applet.
