Here is what you need to do to update the map your Garmin nuvi 200; first make sure the unit is fully charged, then go to the Garmin web site and register your product. Next download Garmin Updater and connect your nuvi with a USB cable directly to your computer and not thru a USB hub. Let the update go directly to the GPS and not a folder. It will take a few hours even with a fast internet connection. When done follow the instructions on your screen. I have attached a link to the Garmin site. Thanks for using FixYa

you can download the manuals free of charge from WWW.garmin.com. Your gps is the 200 series, so the 205 should work as well.

TRY SWITCHING GPS OFF WHILE CONNECTED. IF NOT DOWN LOAD NEW SOFTWARE AND WHEN FINISHED IT LEAVE CONECTED SHOULD SHOW CHARGING AND YOU WILL BE ABLE TO USE

I also have a Nuvi 200 that didn't charge. The problem is the charging port disconnected from the circuit board. You can disassemble the unit and reconnect the charging port but it takes a small torques wrench and a small screw driver. You will also need a soldering iron preferably with a fine tip and a very steady hand. Good luck.

HI, I have the same NUVI. Mine does the same. I haven't had any issues with it. It still charges fully when I unplug it.

I just got a Garmin Nuvi 660 and cannot figure out how to charge the unit. Help!!!!

You will have to send it to Garmin with the original receipt and see if they'll reload the maps the unit came with. There may be a charge for this.

Are you using the factory supplied Power cord or a standard Sony-type plug?
