Does that model have the Kensington lock slot? 500GB does, maybe you need to physically unlock it?

Computer won't recognize external hard drive anymore Hitachi lifestudio

Try connecting the external hard drive to another computer to recover/backup your data.
When you have such a large capacity hard drive, it pays to have a second large capacity hard drive to backup your data in the event of the other hard drive dying.Hard drives do fail especially if you accidently drop it.

My hitachi external hard drive wont connect to my mac laptop

You might try a different cable if you haven't already. Make sure the cable is short, less than 18", or it will not power up properly. Another thing to check is to make sure the computer's Energy Preferences settings are optimized for performance, not battery life, so that the computer can supply enough power for the drive. If you need more help, please call HitachiGST Tech Support M-F 8AM to 6PM PST at 1.888.426.5214 and a technician will be happy to help you.

My hitachi hard drive dosent show up in my computer

The reason it's not showing up in XP is because microsoft made updates to drive handling in Windows 7.

The disk is in essence too "advanced for XP"

Your best solution is to copy the data off the drive onto the windows 7 machine, then format the drive using windows XP. Once formatted, copy your files back onto the drive from the windows 7 computer and both will be able to share the drive.

Hope this helps FixYa,

My songs wont add onto my sandisk sansa mp3 player

What format are the songs you're not able to hear? It's possible that the songs are not in a format the Sansa can play.

Also, you can navigate your Sansa like a removable drive. Try going to "My Computer" and looking to see what's actually on the drive.
