Is the sound a buzz or a whirring sound? If it is whirring, your belt is broke, take it in and have it replaced. You might has well have it serviced at the same time (clean, oil and adjust)

The foot pedal of my Bernina, model 1230, will not run the machine when pushed. The machine makes a quiet buzzing sound. I used this machine last week with no problems at all. This came on suddenly.

I have a 930 that started doing this and it was the brushes that were worn. Mine are in the foot control. I ordered new ones off the internet and installed (with my husband's help) and it works find now. The hardest part was getting the foot control apart and back together without breaking anything.

My daughter's brand new, right out of the box Janome 2212 machine is not working. The foot pedal is not engaging the motor so the needle doesn't move up and down. The wheel is pushed in as it

Sorry, but gotta ask is it plugged in and turned on? Check before you answer. (I ask this because it happened to me, set up, ready to go, and no power. After an hour and the machine was in pieces, My son asked if i plugged it in and I snapped "YES, DUH" not seeing him twirling he plug in his hand...he informed me that you must be 10% smarter than anything you operate or eat....at which point he was happy to inform me, the machine was 11% smarter. If it is plugged in and turned on, is the plug to the foot pedal plugged all the way in? Is the machine on? If you get zero reaction, no movement or sound of any kind, the foot pedal my be faulty, it can happen. Take it back to the dealer and they should replace the entire machine or the foot pedal. Good luck and happy sewing.

L have an Elna 1010 that has never been plugged in. Do I need to oil it before I use it? Is it ready to go after all these years?

check in the manual and see if it's self oiling or not,, some
machine parts are soaked in oil from the factory & don't need
to be oiled other machines have to be oiled,,if the manual doesn't
say then contact elna customer service and ask them.
I won't promise the machine will work or won't work if it's been
sitting for years ,sometimes the grease can become sticky and
hard.
you'll be able to tell as soon as you start sewing, make sure you
read the manual completely, that way you know what the machine
will do and what it won't do.
always use the proper needle for the fabric
and the proper foot
if you go over a seam and the machine seems to struggle, take your
foot off the foot pedal and use the handwheel to move the needle
manually over the seam, that way you don't bend a needle and cause
the machine to jump time.
also make sure to have a comfortable chair and good lighting and
a good seam ripper just in case of a mistake.
if you get frustrated while sewing, get up and walk around, that can
help clear your mind, I've had to do that plenty of times and I've
been sewing for 30 years.
if you don't have a manual send me a comment and I'll try to find you one.
there are several websites that have tutorials and other things for
a quilter,,
happy sewing

Foot pedal doesn't work

well if the foot pedal isn't working, you can either replace it with a new one or take the machine to a sewing machine repair shop & let them check the foot pedal & see if it's fixable

I have a Singer Sewing Machine #9444. There is no electrical getting to my machine since the light doesn't work and the foot pedal doesn't work after I turn on the machine

Try replacing the light bulb or rerouting the wire so it won't be affected by the light bulb or the foot pedle. Becarefull though because if you rerout the the wireing in the foot pedle you're taking away the off/on swich so it'll stay on. You may want to open up the foot pedle and see if there is anything loose, not conected or broken. The pedal is used as an on/off swich so it may just be stuck in the off position and not making contact when you press down on it so it won't turn on.
If you can't fined a blulb for it by the way you can disconect the socket where you screw it in and install a new one. Make sure the new one will fit in the same hole though. Then it should be easy finding a bulb for it. PLEASE MAKE SURE THE MACHINE IS DISCONECTED BEFOR YOU DO ANY OF THESE THINGS. Good luck!

I can't thread my bobbin. I get a error on the number guide and it is 88. so what is wrong with it not working.

Do you have a manul for your machine?
you can download it from here http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/467_7466_efs.pdf

I can't see anything relating to error message 88 in the manual.

So I would suggest you start by trouble shooting the bobbin case, go to page 76 in manual and folloing images, take out bobbin case, clean and replace it. Turn machine off first and once its back in turn it on and see if the 88 code has reset.

Then redo bobbin winding, and threading up. Start with the manual instructions on this page 18 and 20 and work through it step by step. Make sure bobbin is in the right way so thread is feeding off in the right direction. Also just a thought, you haven't got a stray bobbin in there that isn't a Singer one??

I hope that this helps you to eliminate your machine problem, obviously if this doesn't solve it you may need to take it for a service and see if the 88 display relates to something within the machine circuitry.

Bernina Buttonhole foot #3A

Hi, you must have an 1130S which means it could also be a circuitboard issue. If the LED/LCD light for the buttonholer does not flash you either need a new RET-Print (circuitboard) or a new buttonhole foot. Sorry to say that you DO more than likely need a new buttonhole foot according to my manual on this machine. No way to repair the foot that I know of.
You should bring the machine in and try it first.
Guess not all news is good news. Sorry.
