SOURCE: oil leak from the front of the motor

Its funny you should mention this but yes, I had its bigger brother the GS 850 G , same problem, Apparently, in my situation I did the same thing and went to the shop and let those butchers make it worse !!!, the way i found my leak was by washing the motor with a grease and oil cleaner , strayed the whole motor and wash it all off totally, then I turn her on and let her get to operating temp went for a few mile and came back and checked it, for me it was the head gasket   the guys put on and i forced them to do it again,  I found out later that it was common with the suzi's of that model and ended up doing it myself, I used the original gasket and used a compound called gasket goo and it never leaked through out the 8 years i had it . But before you do anything , surly they gave you warrant y on the work so take it back and demand they do it properly.
Cheers and ride safe

Crankcase oil is getting into the combustion process. Check the following: Crankcase oil level - make certain it is not overfilled. Crankcase ventilation system - check for blocked or kinked crankcase vent hoses.
If the smoking persists, try to take note of weather it is during acceleration, or deceleration. Smoke during acceleration normally indicates worn piston rings, while smoke during deceleration means worn valve guides and/or valve guide seals.
If the smoke smells like antifreeze, then you most likely have a leaking head gasket.

SOURCE: Smoke alot

You jetting is off on your carb. Raise the clip on the needle in the carb, if it still does it.....the it will need smaller jets.....see a motorcycle shop.Your bike is a two stroke and will smoke with oil coming out the exhaust if card is too rich. What raio do you mix your gas/oil at? Disregard the first post....he must think its a four stroke engine.

SOURCE: Hi, I have a Suzuki Katana

hi what you have just described is the head gasket leaking.you say you do not get a drip on the floor??check to see if the oil has travelled towards the rear of the head??if so how much??although this will not really affect the bike under normal riding it is recommended that you get it repaired sooner rather then later.

I have just fired my bike up 1200 bandit and there is a lot of white smoke coming from the exhaust i thought it would burn off but it keeps doing it and cutting out

Ok I have one of these. They are not water cooled so it's not steam from a leaky head gasket,it would by be oil unless it's bluey coloured smoke.if it was too rich ie choke stuck on or blocked air filter you would have black smoke.so I would say it's one of two things.you have either put some diesel in it as that smokes grey and fouls the plugs making it misfire and cut out or the small drain hole in the left hand side of the fuel filler cap well has blocked up and you do have water in the fuel.drain the carbs via the drain screws on the bottom of the float bowls and catch it in something,if there is water in it it looks like jelly in the petrol.Ok good luck ps that's a man's bike.;0)

Started smoking and running bad after i changed oil and plugs

Depends what colour the smoke is black usually is too much oil or piston rings gone causing engine to burn off excess oil, white or blue smoke on the other hand is coolant or water leaking into the head due to a blown head gasket or cracked head, put your hand over the exhaust when it's running if it gets wet the head gasket is go e

White Smoke Coming from Engine?

It sounds like you need a good mechanic to fix your oil leaks. It's probably the valve cover gasket leaking oil on the cylinder head and it's running down on the hot exhaust manifold.

White smoke out of exhaust

Regarding 2001 audi a6 quattro 2.7t....i was driving to work the car was fine then white smoke starting coming from under the hood and tail pipe. i stopped veilce and alot of oil was dripping from front of car. I towed it home and i looked under the hood and there was oil from valve cover gasket. i let the car sit for a few days, had it running again for a good hour and no white smoke was coming out. I removed the valve cover and gaskets are all bad. i want to know can the valve cover gasket leak cause the white smoke to come from exhaust pipe?

My 2001 zx6r is leaking oil from the top of the engine and my exsauhst is blowing some white smoke out of it

Hi, This is likely to be your head gasket, white smoke from exhaust is oil being burnt. Oil is leaking from the gasket out to the external area that you can see, it will also be leaking inside to the cylinders causing the smoke.

What does a problem in the head gasket sound like? And how can you check.if theres a problem?

A couple of things will generally happen if you have a bad head gasket. Usually you will notice alot of steam and white smoke coming from your exhaust cause from coolant getting into the cylinders. Another to check for is coolant in your oil. Check your engine oil and if it has a milky look to it that meant that coolant is getting into the crankcase. Also check your coolant to ensure proper level and make sure that there is no oil in the coolant. Also if your head gasket is leaking exhaust into the cooling system it can cause your car to overheat. I'm not aware of any real sound that a bad head gasket will cause. It will probably cause the car to run rough and will eventually cause major engine damage if not repaired.

Spiting

theres a few things that can be happening here...Im not sure if its spitting out fuel, oil, or coolant, so ill give u a quick explanation of all 3 possibilities. first, there may be a blown crank seal. this ils the most likely of problems. im assuming that your engine still runs ok. but you have an excessive amount of blue-ish smoke and some oil coming out of the exhaust. this would require a very good technician to fix. the crankcases must be seperated to properly install a new seal.
second, you may have the same symptoms as stated above. but instead of the crank seal being bad, it may be the crankcases leaking oil. you see, theres no gasket between the crankcases. there is only a thin layer of a silicone-type gasket maker that yamaha uses to seal the cases. sometimes that thin gasket fails, and oil is allowed to leak into the crankcase, then is passed through the cylinder and exhaust. if you determine that it is oil burning, (youll know because of the very high amount of smoke compared to the left cylinder), split the cases and replace the crankseal, even if you think it may just be the gasket. they only cost about 8 dollars, and tahts cheap insurance.
third, it may be your head gasket leaking. unlikely, but a possibility. even though it would leak coolant into the exhaust, it can sometimes be mistaken for oil after it mixes with all of the carbon built up inside the pipes. youll know if its a bad head gasket if the bike is hard to start, and the coolant level in the radiator goes down after a short time riding. also you should notice that your engine bogs or sputters intermittently, but frequently.
finally, the last possibility is that your carburetor(s) arent adjusted properly. once you rule out the possibilities I listed above, then check make sure that your carbs arent overflowing. if they leak, then your getting too much fuel to your cylinders. if theres no leak on the carbs, then your jetting is just a little bit too rich. reducing the main jet by 1 or 2 sizes should help this problem. a good indicator of a rich condition is having to frequently change the spark plugs just for the bike to run properly.
hope this helps you out at least a little. if you have any questions or want anything clarified, feel more then free to contact me.

White smoke

Are you sure the smoke is white? White smoke is usually caused by antifreeze burning.(This could be a head gasket)

If the smoke is actually light gray it is oil burning.(This would be rings or valve seals)

If it smokes mostly on startup and then stops when it warms up (It could be a worn valve guide or deteriorated valve guide seal (or possibly several) allowing a tiny amount of oil into one or more cylinders).

If it smokes mostly when you are cornering (It could be too much oil in the crankcase).
