Constant beeps beeps on startup

  • Anonymous Apr 13, 2013

The laptop constantly beeps. It does not seem to be a quantity of beeps. I can finally boot up after a minute.

  • Anonymous Apr 13, 2013

I took out one of the 1G memory modules and it boots up ok. I put only the other one back in and it beeps. So looks like 1 stick is bad. I put in a 2G stick and it beeps again. Does anyone know if this computer can support a single 2G module?

This laptop can take 4G ram http://www.crucial.com/upgrade/Gateway-memory/M-1000+Series/M-1625-upgrades.html

if the memory modules are not from the same brand range, this can often be the issue.

it SHOULD be able to run with just 1 2G module but will run better with 2 1G rather than the single, assuming it's the right type for the machine.

If I'm upgrading pc memory, I remove the old and replace with Crucial or Kingston kits so as not to mix brands and ranges.

I have a quanta 3082 MB in a HP Pavilion zd8230us laptop when I startup it beeps constantly got any ideas? anyone

The beeps with have a pattern to them. Listen closely when you first turn the laptop on and listen for the pattern. It might be something like 1-3-2 (1 beep, wait, 3 beeps in a row, wait, 2 beeps) It will repeat for listen for a bit to make sure you have the correct pattern. Once you have that pattern got to the HP webpage, in the support section, in the search type in "beep code errors". It will give you a list of beep patterns and tell you what the problem is. It could be the RAM, it could be another problem with the motherboard; those codes are what you need to have first.

My Dell Poweredge 1550 won't connect to the screen. It also constantly beeps upon startup

Is it in a 1, 3, 2 beep pattern (beep....beep, beep, beep........beep, beep)? If so, the memory is either not seated well or may be bad. Try reseating your memory. If it continues, try with one stick at a time just to see if it will boot up with a display.

Thanks,

Beep sound

This problem is due to the mix of registered and unregistered DIMMs. 64Mb and 128 Mb DIMM's are unregistered memory technology 256MB is registered memory technology.
A mix of registered and unregistered memory prevents the server from completing startup, and results in an error beep sequence and a blank screen..Use registered memory and it will be fine..
