Question about Sony Handycam HDR-HC1E HDV Digital Camcorder
In the midst of recording, the power shut off and the LCD screen and the view finder went black. The only response that I get when I try to power on is a white flash of light every 5 seconds. I have tried it with a fully charged battery and with the electrical cord plugged into the machine.
SOURCE: HDR-HC1 power keeps cycling
I had this exact problem, and the cycling would stop after about 30 sec. and then function properly. I believe a circuit was confused, mainly because I used an older battery and let it run out till the batt was dead - accidently - and when I put in a fresh batt, it no longer cycled and works perfectly to this day.
Now if I can get my computer to recognize the camera via firewire, I'd be golden.

SOURCE: LCD on Sony HDR HC1 not working
This happens when flexible wire between LCD board and camcorder board got broken or cracked.
Camcorder needs that connecting flexible wire replacement, let me know exact model of Sony camcorder if you need part number of flexible wire.
