Go to www.facebook.com enter the email and password you used to register and click login. That should direct you to your facebook account. If you have forgotten your password, click on forgot password tab and request a new password. It will be sent to the email provided. From here you can sign in again using the new password

If another account comes up, log out of it by clicking the down-pointing triangle in the upper-right then clicking "Log Out."

If you get an error message, what does it say?
Using the 'borrowed' laptop, go to Facebook. When you see the facebook page of the owner of the laptop, look to your right hand side - top of the page. locate the word, 'Account' and click on it. A menu will drop down.
Go to the bottom of the drop down menu and click on, 'Log Out'.
This will redirect you to the facebook log-in page where you can then log-in using your account.
