I have an LCD 1970GX monitor. I had to get a new computer in Dec. 08 which has windows vista. Since getting the new computer, my monitor just shuts off whenever it wants to.
The old computer got shoved into the wall and I was wondering if maybe the cord for my monitor may have been damaged when this occured.
Please advise.
Thanks Barb
Your NEC 1970GX monitor as two video inputs; an old-school VGA socket (socket and cable connectors usually coloured blue), and a DVI-D digital socket (socket and connectors usually coloured white). Purchase either a new VGA-VGA cable, or if your PC has a white DVI-D socket, a DVI-DVI cable, both relatively cheap options and test this simple option before any further troubleshooting. Many computers and monitors will go to sleep (automatically switch off) after not being used after an adjustable period of time. If this is your problem, you will need to adjust the setting (in power options of both the monitor and PC) to a setting suitable to your usage. You can also, in power options, usually turn off "automatic sleep".

I have an Acer AL1916 which I bought new in March 06. It became faulty when the colours changed. In addition the whole image shifted to the left a few inches (now and again). Like yourselves I thought it was the cable / PC but it was the same on a seperate unit. Concluded faulty - so back to Acer it went. They repaired it and it came back with the colours back as they should.
However, 10 months on, it's done it again. I turned it on Monday and the screens gone back to a horrible purple hue.
So back to Acer it goes again. I'm not impressed at all. Temped to fight and try and get my money back. Clearly these screens have a reoccuring fault and it sounds like you guys have the same fault.

SOURCE: Vison Monitor ( device installer error)
First you need to uninstall the driver for your old monitor. Then install the driver for the new monitor. With both drivers installed your computer is confused and shows the conflict as an error message. Hope this helps.

I couldn't find your monitor ,but I was wondering if you had installed a VISTA driver for the new VISTA computer to match your Brand and model monitor?
