Sounds like just the bulb is going bad . the neon bulb you have goes bad that way ,it flashes and blinks sometimes for years before it goes out all the way . it will not hurt anything

Green light means that freezer is connected to the mains/electric
Red means that your freezer has not reached minimum working freezing temperature, this is not good news, something may be wrong with your freezer, get it checked by a competent person.
yellow light means that you have switched the fast freeze button on. Is the compressor running the whole time? If so may have a problem with a refridgerant leak....check the compressor in the rear of unit, feel if its hot....may be as simple as a relay.
a freezer is just a heat pump . from inside the freezer to the garage . the first law of thermodynamics says heat travels from a hotter to a colder surface . it could just be the cold how much are we talking?
