I was transferring files from my G4 to my Pro on friday. The external worked great on the G4 but when I plugged it in again it wouldn't work on my Pro. I think the problem lies with when I was transferring from G4 my computer shut down. I mean it has worked before on both computers and now it won't work on either. Everything I have ever done is on my external. I need to get the info. Someone help.

Try and use hirens boot cd to breath new life into the drive. It may just need to be repartitioned and reformatted to resolve the problem. Hirens can be found through a google search and it's a free download. All you need to do is burn it to disk. Then enter your bios and make sure that you can boot from your cd/dvd drive. After that move through the hard drive tools and see what you can find wrong with it. More often then not you'll find the problem using this fine boot disk. However, if it doesn't work then there is one other possible method.
Download this from western digitals website.

it's a last resort method to trying to revive a hard drive. Sometimes it works. Most of the time the drive is dead and gone.
Good Luck!

hey im the same person who just posted above. i went to WD's website, and it said unplug the hard drive from the computer, and unplug it from the power source. then plug it into the power outlet, wait for it to spin up, then plug it in via USB/Firewire, whatever. it worked for me, so hopefully it will work for you.

sounds like you are using the wrong power supply. Check the amp output on the power plug you plug into the wall make sure its the same as the amp input of your external harddrive
