Try plugging the mfc into another usb port on the computer. The ones in the back are closer to the processor, usually work better.

When I print from my Brother MFC 6490cw No image appears on the paper? What 's the cause? How to fix?

Hi,

Was it working and then stopped? Do you have the latest software drivers installed?

Try the easy things first:

Be sure that all the ink cartridges have ink in them.

Make sure the cartridges are all installed and seated properly. How old are the cartridges?

Try turning the machine completely off for about two minutes and then turning it back on, then try again. Try printing something using a different computer program. Re-boot your computer.

Make sure there are no paper jams.

When was the last time the print heads were cleaned?

HOW DO I TURN OFF THE SLEEP MODE ON MY PRINTER BROTHER MFC 7420

Setting the Sleep Time reduces power consumption by turning off the fuser inside the MFC while it is idle. You can choose how long the MFC is idle (from 00 to 99 minutes) before it goes into sleep mode. The timer is automatically reset when the MFC receives a Fax or PC data or makes a copy. The factory setting is 05 minutes.
To turn Sleep Mode off press Menu/Set, 1, 6, 2. Then use the dial pad to enter the length of time the MFC is idle before it goes into sleep mode, in this case 00 so it wouldn't go to Sleep mode at all. Press Stop/Exit.

BROTHER FAX MACHINE 2800

Your Brother machine#s Sleep Mode function reduces power consumption while the machine is idle. You can adjust how long your Brother machine is idle (between 00 and 99 minutes) before Sleep Mode is initiated. Please note that the default setting is 00 minutes, and the timer automatically resets itself after the Brother machine receives a fax, receives data from your PC, or makes a copy. To adjust your Brother machine#s Sleep Mode setting, please follow these steps:

1. Press MENU/SET, 1 (General Setup), 7 (Sleep Mode).

2. Use the dial pad to enter the amount of time the fax machine is idle before Sleep Mode is initiated (00 to 99 minutes).

3. Press the MENU/SET key to confirm your choice.

4. Press the STOP/EXIT key to exit the menu.

NOTE: If you frequently print, copy, or fax, set the idle time long
enough to insure that you will not always have to wait for the Brother machine to warm up.

Printer doesnt come out of sleep mode (Brother MFC7420)

I'd be happy to give you the solution to this problem :)

You'll want to go into the menu and choose these options: 1,6, and 2. The final stop should give you the sleep menu.

The printer is setup for a default of 5 minutes. But you can change it from 00 to 99 minutes. To just shut it off, press the Options and Start button simultaneously and that will do the trick.

If I wasn't specific enough, the solution is on page 2-6
