You probably need to get the bulb changed and or a new wpower supply board for the TV. How old is this?

  • Boz Mar 09, 2009

Sony had a quality issue on the power supply module/board with a couple of the components. Usually it is two capacitors and a resistor that get replaced. Some techs believe it to be a thermal issue with the relationship of the distance from the bulb to the powersupply board.

You can probably try to source a replacement board off of Ebay/internet, if you feel up to it.

Tv won't turn on. It blinks green then red.

Hi,
Question shows tv is Sony KDF-60WF655.
Green light blinks when tv gets prepare to fire up lamp, check internal circuits then show picture on front screen.
Red light blinking shows some kind of internal problem during circuit check and protection got activated upon some failure.
Count the red light blink as you will see 3 second long pause and post it here to diagnose what section of tv got problem.
Did you replaced its lamp in last 2-3 years?
Thanks.

Sony Grand Wega- Red light Blinking

I would have to say you have a bad projection lamp!! They do NOT last forever!!! About 3000 hours is normal. If this is out of warranty--about $300 in--house repair or so.

Sony Grand Vega green light blinks on and then blinks red

Please intimate exact model of your Sony TV and also mention how many times red light blinks as there would be pause of 3 seconds in blinks so count pause to pause and let me know to find out problem.

Sony grand vega 55" will blink green for three times than red blinking under the power light. nothing comes on no sound, no picture and no fan's are running. Tried to change the bulb, power board...

Your problem is your thermal fuse.It is located around the bottom of the compartment that houses the lamp. You will have to remove the lamp and take the bottom back panel off. Then you will have to remove the fan. I ordered the thermal fuse so I would know what I was looking for when I started to replace it. If you take your time and are patient enough you can fix it yourself. I fixed mine and it's working great.GOOD LUCK!!!

Dead sony

The $1200 was for the lcd engine not the lamp. You should change the lamp. The buzz is the power supply trying to light the lamp.
