The Solenoid is INSIDE the Transmission, accessible by removing the Transmission Pan. They are Very Easy to Remove and Replace. IT is harder to find a new one for a Range Rover

CHECK ENGINE light??? Whenever the 'CHECK ENGINE' (Service Engine Soon) light comes on, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). These codes identify the particular engine management system which caused the light to come on.
You'll need to use/find an OBDII (On-Board Diagnostic) Scanner to retrieve any code which have been stored in the ECU computer. Afterward, we might be able to help you DIAGNOSE the problem and perhaps eventually fix the problem.

What is wrong with my car when it jerks in drive

jerks when?

moving the shift lever. with hand?

moving car. in gear, name the gear, drive, L or reverse?

jerks from, 1 to 2nd gear, 2nd to 3? or ? (or when IT down shifts)

pretend we are blind (we are) and cant drive car,(hopeless) and

tell us exactly what works and dont work driving.

hot /cold engine, fast /slow/ accelerating/ decelerating, up hills and what gears.

if engine is hot, is your idle at 800 RPM parked, in park.

y/s

if not the idle controls are out of control and when you shift to drive

IT will jerk. this is an engine problem.

there are lots of other symptoms.

I have a 1995 Chevy S10 4.6L 2WD Ext Cab truck. Just replaced the transmission and have bleed the system. I started the engine and I cannot shift into first gear without grinding the gears. Any suggestions...

Was this tranmission you put in the exact same as the one you replaced? This is not a common issue and I have to lean towards the linkage either binding or out of adjustment, almost like your shifter is not moving far enough to get first and reverse but it has plenty of room to glide through the other gears. Do you have someone who can move the shifter while you get under the truck and watch the linkage to see if it is binding or not traveling far enough. And can you take the linkage off and manually move the transmission cam to go through the gears from under the truck? Please do not get under it while it is started or capable of starting. When it is gera does it operate smoothly and no jerking?

My 2002 Hyundai Accent goes into 1 gear smoothly, jerks into 2nd and goes into 3rd gear smoothly. Then goes back down into 3rd and 2nd gears smoothly and jerks back into 1st.

Car jerks on 1st & 2nd gears.

It sounds like you may have 1 or more bad motor mounts. I had the same thing happen in my 93 eclipse. The rubber collapsed and the motor would just **** back and forth and make the car bounce, but 3rd on up was fine. Check to see if any of the rubber mounts have deteriorated, and replace them soon or it can cause more damage, like broken flywheel bots and bent axles. Hope this helps :)
