Washer motor spins but the TUB does not (intermittent)

I have a Whirlpool top load washer that i am trying to trouble shoot. The washer is going through the washing cycle fine...but when the spinning cycle comes, it some time spins and some time it does not. Note that i can hear the motor spinning....it is the tub that does not spin. I lifted the washer to see if the coupler is bad...but the couple is in healthy condition.....the switch seem to be making the click sound as well....but this intermittent problem of tub not spinning is little confusing...again..the motor underneath does spin when the spin cycle is running....only the tub does not....

any clues and tips are greatly appreciated.....thx a million in advance...

Whirlpool Ultimate Care II In the wash cycle my clothes stay still. You can hear the motor working but there is no swooshing and clothes getting cleaning. They just sit in the water.

If the motor is running and the tub is not spinning you must remove the motor and inspect the drive coupling.
One of the 2 plastic pieces could be stripped or cracked.
If the drive coupling is intact, proceed to the clutch on top of the transmission.
Replace the clutch linings.

Water overflow when tub is emptying during spin cycle

It sounds more like you have a drain problem that a machine problem. Try draining into the laundry tub and check that the tub drains quickly enough. If not, you have a plumbing problem...Good luck...Nomess

Top loading Kenmore washer runs for a few seconds then shuts off

It's quite possible, however,

If you're mechanically inclined, I'd check the motor, transmission and pump first.

See the following Whirlpool / Kenmore Service manual for top load, direct drive washers and it's trouble-shooting section.

https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/f7e2147fa98b28cf85257122007475cb/$FILE/L-55.pdf

See the following for how to pull the cabinet, pump, motor and transmission to check them all.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO PULL THE TUB.

I have a whirlpool ultimate care 2 top load washer no spin

Sounds as if the drive hub which the tub is attached to maybe free spinning. Not an expensive part but does require a special tool called a spanner wrench to remove and replace.

Whirlpool Washer LSR7233BQ2 Buzzes/Humms during spin cycle...no movement

No belt on your machine. Sounds like motor coupler that joins motor and transmission is broken. Very inexpensive part but a few steps involved in getting machine disassembled Look up YouTube video on replacing motor coupler on Whirlpool washer.

Whirlpool super capacity Lsq9549lw0 has trouble spinning on its own.

If the washer does fine thru the agitation cycle (the washing), that means the motor is OK and the coupler is OK.  It would not agitate unless both are OK.  (and don't listen if anyone tells you the lid switch is bad -- machine would not fill & go thru wash cyle). The spin is another matter.  There is a separate tube for spinning the basket.  There is a drive  block at top of the tube (that sometimes fails)  and there is a separate cluch mechanism below, under the tub.  Those places is where you should look.
