There is something most likely jammed in the brush roller. Check it and clear the brushes out.

Remove hepa filter

Turn the Dyson on its back as if you were servicing the beater brush and on the RH side you'll see the filter housing for the HEPA and a T-15 Torx screw. Remove this screw and then remove the cover for the HEPA filter.

My dyson 17 dc is making a noise like a loose roller but it's tight. it sounds loud and vibrating type noise

Hi there, your machine is designed to make a ratchet noise if the brush bar is obstructed.

Please check to ensure that there are no blockages around the brush bar and that any hair or threads have been removed. If you need help with this, you can follow our self help guide in the support section at www.dyson.com.

If you need any further help or advice, please contact our Helpline on 1866MYDYSON.

Dyson blueprint beater bar won't turn

The Dyson DC 17 has a rug / floor switch on the head of the vacuum. Please check to make sure the switch is in the Rug position. If the brush roller still does not turn then you have broken the belt and need the following part.
