I have a problem with D-link DWL-G520M wireless desktop adapter. I installed driver and the connected PCI card. This card seems to freeze my system after boot up. It might work for a minute or two but then fails. I have windows XP with 1GHz processor on AMD Athlon socket A motherboard.

install inside the computer pci slot you may need the driver download from cnet link (http://download.cnet.com/D-Link-Air-DWL-520-Wireless-PCI-Adapter/3000-2112_4-67692.html)
I had the same problem wih my Dlink wireless N dongle. The problem is, i was also running win7 64bit, is tat there are no drivers compatible with the device for win7 64bit yet. So i went back to the 32bit version nd reinstalled the driver and all works fine now. Hope this can help you.
It wireless adapter could be faulty or the PCI slot in the computer is faulty.
Insert the D-Link into another PCI slot and also try installing the drivers again, the driver may be corrupted.
Try installing the D-Link in another computer, if it doesn't work then it is faulty and you need a replacement wireless adapter.
The card could be bad. I've found over the years that most of these desktop wireless cards work best when the software is installed before the card is installed. Meaning uninstall all the software. Turn off the machine. Remove the wireless card. Turn back on the machine. Install the software. Once installed, shut down the machine. Install the card. Turn back on the machine and lets Windows find the card and the software.
ih alderman do one think remove the all driver or you install for the adpater after that restart you computer, after restart computer, put the cd of d-link adpater and you install mannualy, before finished the installation donn't give the restart full installation is over then give restart, after u get it.
If you have formated all your drives you will have no official motherboard drivers for your pci bridge, sound driver, onboard lan or video, usb or agp slots, only the generic windows drivers which arent always reliable, so check you motherboard model and then go to the manufacturer web site and download the correct drivers.
All the work you have done was unnecassry unfortunately, unless it gave you major system faults, the fault may have been motherboard drivers, i also recommend removing the pci card and before installing the board drivers and using a different pci slot.
