Car was skipping and leak a little bit of oil and thought that the valve cover gasket was bad so replaced that, spark plugs and wire. car was still skipping and come to find out, oil is leaking into the top of the second cylinder on top of the spark plug wire. starts skipping around 2000-3000 rpm and will "come out of it" if i reach 5000< rpm. if i drive very slow and steady it rarely skips but still does from time to time. have to keep letting off the gas. any suggestions?
"leaking into the top of the second cylinder on top of the spark plug wire
only this matter !! cure that.
some engines have spark well. are you saying the wells fill with oil?
if yes, you didnt buy a real valve cover sit, try FELPRO that
comes with the well seals , with kit.
skipping is misfire. if the boots get fill of oil, sure it will misfire, how can it not?
yes its leaking in the well but only in one. i cant exactly remember which valve cover i got from advance auto but it came with all the well seals and the valve cover seals from where the bolts secure it and everything was assembled properly. it had started skipping (misfiring) and i took off the valve cover, pulled out the spark plug wires and saw one was filled with oil. i cleaned it out and dried it out, bought new spark plugs and spark plug wires and a new valve cover gasket and replaced it. it ran for like 3 days and started all over again with the same problem
it is a 2008 suzuki forenza
these dont leak, felpro full Valve cover gasket kit. there are only 2 sources for oil (baring water freeze damage. mage) the well ring gasket and the spark gasket, i you can not find it, find a mech who can,. this is a very common issue and no spark boot runs in oil , oil conducts 100% at 50,000 volts. any anwers here are pure guessing, we can see it, right? if i was there, it be fixed. due to looking, may be pre. owner dropped it. who knows.
you take off the COPs. look down the hole, see oil , that is a fail. in the FSM did you do step on , on assemble: 'Apply a small amount of gasket sealant to the corners of the front camshaft caps and the top of the rear camshaft cover-to-cylinder head seal."
and this. "Tighten the spark plug cover bolts to 71 inch lbs. (8 Nm)" do not over tighten these, its INCH pounds not FEET !
so may bad posts. his wells are full of oil not the floor. wow.
one other poossible, is a blocked PCV valve and it finds the weakest point to leak. relplace the PCV pre the service schedule.
the below fuel pump post, wow its in the tank, this is no V8 carb car.

Check the metal vent tube on the fuel pump. When the diaphram goes out, oil will leak from the vent tube. If that is the problem, get it fixed pronto. Not always but there are some times when fuel gets mixed into the oil when the pump is going out and that thins the oil out. Keep on driving with this problem and you can kiss your engine good bye.
When/if you change the fuel pump out, make sure not to lose the push rod that is behind it. It goes between the camshaft and fuel pump.

ok you will have to degrease the engine and then run it check from tappet cover, oil pan areas like that

Hello tdxflygirl: My name is Roger and I will give you some helpful information. All these things may be wrong but repair as you money allows. The main leak I would be worried about is the leak behind the timing belt cover. Your timing belt does not work well with oil. Oil will break down the composition of the belt. You did not say which motor you have in your vehicle so I assume it is a 1.6l. engine. As for the valve cover they usually seep more than out right leak. There is no pressure on them like the camshaft and crankshaft seals. The distributor seal does have oil pressure on it but should be inexpensive to repair. The ripped intake boot I am not quite sure which one you are talking about. This could be a grommet or a boot. If this is boot it could create a vacuum leak and cause the check engine light to come on. The housing you are talking about I am not sure of. As I can not find a good picture of any housing in the repair manual. As for the plug wires They will become oil soaked over a period of time. This will short them out and cause a misfire in the engine. I would recommend getting a second opinion before spending a lot of money an repairs. Also have them prioritize the repairs as to what should be done first and do them a little at a time. Shops are like everyone else. Times are not all that great. They would love to do this all at once. But a small job here and there add up also. Should you nee further help please just ask. Please rate the answer as this way I know it helped. Thank You for using Fix Ya Roger
