Notebook will not boot into xp pro. Error message says: Status: oxc0000098 intelide.sys driver missing or currupt It is asking install cd but notebook did not come with them. The back up is on a second partion. I am unable to get past the multiple choice of starting in Normal, safe mode, ect... I do have a HP Desktop with Vista and was wondering if possible to fix with files I may have or how do I create a disk to fix above? Thanks.
Have you tried a System Restore? Take a look at this HP forum: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-e-g-Windows-8-and-Software/Windows-not-able-to-boot-in-any-mode/td-p/776097 OR, this: http://softwaretopic.informer.com/windows-xp-repair-disk-iso-download/
I have tried to get into System Restore but it just jumps to the screen of options of how I want to start windows, safte mode, safe mode with networking, ect... Thank you for you suggestion, I am going to take a look at the link you sent now.
Try this, Boot to safe mode, do a System File Checker and make sure ALL your Windows and HP updates are current. Here's a System File Check procedure , if neededhttp://www.microsoft.com/resources/docum...
Correction: Boot to Sake Mode with Networking, I think you can run Windows in Safe Mode in Win XP?
Windows updates, sorry, It's early here. On first cup of Coffee.

SOURCE: Audio Driver not working on Win XP SP2 Pro
hi,
As denoted by your problem description, it seems you are talking about audio software. If this is the case, you can try it re-installing the audio drivers provided by HP website or if you have drivers Disk with you.
Please let me know if you are not talking about software and are referring to Audio device drivers.
Thanks and regards.

I suggest uninstalling SP3... do you have System Restore turned on? Google how to check...
If you do, try rolling back that way. Start>Run>restore <enter> and the restore window will appear. Choose the restore to an earlier time option, and hopefully a choice for 'SP3 installation' will be there. Choose that to roll back... good luck!
SOURCE: how to downgrade vista to winxp pro at Hp pavilion DV4-1204TU ?
Well, this may make you think twice:
I bought a presario from circuit city last year, and I paid $200 to downgrade to XP. Everything was fine until it crashed last week. IT went completely bizzerk. HP won't provide support, cause I changed it. Circuit City is out of business, not much help there.
Basically, I am completely #$%%@@.
I am now paying to get Vista put back in. :-(
SOURCE: hp 530 Notebook Recovery Disk errors, cannot start
Hi,
If you trying to recover your pc from a recpvery partition on the hard drive, somewhere the recovery partions has had the file you need to process your request is missing. If you are using the disk that came with your system, you will need to perform a fresh install with formating your hard drive.

If you are able to get into the BIOS (there are usually instructions that indicate how to enter setup during the boot process), attempt to locate a command to complete a physical scan of the hard drive. This is the first step to determine if the failure is hardware or software centered.
If hard drive test passes, then you may be able to use the restore disk that is supplied by the computer manufacturer and restore the operating system.
If the hard drive fails the test. This will indicate physical damage to the hard drive, and it will need to be replaced. If this is the case, your data may be recoverable by removing the hard drive and connecting it externally to another PC.
Hope this helps.
