It is not recommended to use super glue to reattach the felt gasket on a lint screen. The lint screen is typically located in your dryer and its purpose is to capture lint and debris that may be generated during a drying cycle. The felt gasket on the lint screen helps to prevent lint from escaping into the dryer and causing potential fire hazards.
If the felt gasket has come loose or detached from the lint screen, it is recommended to replace the entire lint screen assembly rather than attempting to glue the felt back in place. The reason is that super glue may not adhere well to the felt material, and it may not be able to withstand the high temperatures and humidity inside the dryer. Also, the super glue may release harmful fumes during the drying cycle that could be hazardous to your health.
Replacing the lint screen assembly is a straightforward process that typically involves removing the old screen and installing the new one. You can consult your dryer's user manual or contact the manufacturer for guidance on how to replace the lint screen.
I had this same problem 3 weeks ago, and here is what I found. The dryer was so clogged with lint it could not dry the clothes. I had to take the whole machine apart and clean all the lint out. I found the felt around the drum was worn out, and that was allowing the lint to go everywhere it shouldn't. With the felt replaced and the lint gone, it worked well. Be blessed.
Are you cleaning your lint filter regularly? If not, the felt is probably lint that has accumulated inside the dryer as a result. Clean the lint filter, and if necessary, clean the vent hose to allow good air flow and this should take care of the problem. I hope this helps. If it does, please come back to Fixya and rate my advice!
Screeching is the metal-on-metal contact of the drum touching the rear of the unit while turning - there's a (usually) felt cover gasket over the circular depression at the back of the dryer. When this wears through (after a number of years/loads), you get the screeching of metal-to-metal contact. Problem: friction can heat up the metal so much that the remaining felt gasket material (and/or accumulated lint or clothing) catches fire. Fix: replace felt drum gasket. The Maytag Atlantis MDE6400AY electric dryer has a DuraCushion(tm) dryer drum, so I'm suspecting the "DuraCushion" has worn out at least at one point in its 360-degree arc.
sound like front felt glide assy # upper felt seal part #134440200 lower felt seal #134134700 u can order these from sears.com
these componets support the front of drum and when felt wears away then clothing slips in gap and when dreyer tumbles clothing gets snagged in gap and tears clothing and leaves black scuffs
The gasket on the lint filter is not very important, but you can get a replacement lint filter. There is a screw at the center bottom area of the lint filter area which can catch on the gasket. If you replace it with a shorter screw or remove it, grind it down a bit, and replace it you will help avoid a repeat condition.
i agree it shouldn't come apart, but as it goes for the "felt" try to use a fabric softener that goes in the wash, and try to put the screen (lint filter) on the top shelf of the dishwasher, if no dishwasher you can wash it by hand I've used a soft nail brush with dish soap. hope this helps :)
easy, get some high temp adhesive before opening up.
then if lint screen on top, remove screws under cover, pull top forward and lift. it hinges in rear. remove 2 screws on front holding front panel to cabinet sides. disco door sw and lift front panel up to remove. undo belt from motor , note setup with spring roller.
if lint screen in door, remove contrl console, screws under end caps(pop off frame end caps from top). remove screws at rear of top holding it to rear panel. and slide forward. to remove. remove lower kick panel (use putty knife, hidden clips in seam), remove screws holding air duct to blower housing, disco wires to moisture bars at connector. remove screws holding front panel to cabinet, then at top and remove panel remove springs if necessary. pull tensioner away from belt and remove belt.
lift drum up and out. note gasket flange orientation and pull off. clean and sand off old as well as possible and apply glue to drum as you apply new gasket, it will be tight at end.
