SOURCE: Error: There is no disc in the drive.
This is a common problem I have seen over the years at my lab, it appears that the Laser for the CD, burns out, or the detector for the CD side of things fails..either way it usually results in DVD working 100% BUT the CD side if things is no good... Then ya spen ages going round in circles trying to "Fix" it when there is none, Unfortuanatly it means ya gonna have to get another unit :(
SOURCE: cpu doesnt recognize new drive
ok i may be able to help, first of all i must ask if you plugged the cables in correctly and didnt forget the power connector.
secondly, have you been into the BIOS and checked weather or not the device shows up there? to access the BIOS (basic input output system) usually you have to repeatedly press the delete button or F1 button as as the PC boots up(before windows loading screen). If you see the device in the BIOS then you should unplug the drive and return it to it manufacturer. If it does show up in BIOS, also check to see weather the drive is compatible with your current version of windows, this also includes the service pack you have installed. if the device does not show up in BIOS then check the cables again, check for any phsyical damages and return to manufacturer. if this dosent help you im sorry, but theres not much you can do if hardware decides it dosent wanna play.
SOURCE: Liteon LVW-5005 DVD Recorder. Disk drive door will not open.
give it a tap on the bottom as you press the button, this will force it to release the disc,
SOURCE: Disk Drive(ATAPI DVD A DH16A6S CdRom Device) won't work.
I hope this will be useful to anyone with driver problems for atapi as i found myself in a pickle with one of their cd roms yellow triangle etc. the problem is with the atapi drivers not being recognised- code 19 and when you update the drivers you ll be told their up to date= no fix. why this happens is antivirus programs can alter the drivers for roms in THE REGISTRY, you may have recently instaled norton 360 for example as did I which knackerd mine.
a genuine microsoft fix.
This is how you fix it for good go to google search engine TYPE IN the following numbers - 314060
you will see a link for - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
go to this page -scroll down it and you,ll see 2 icons men with spanners one is a patch for vista the other for xp .
download the patch for XP even if you have vista as the vista patch wont work when downloaded you can run the fix which will need a computer restart. once restarted your computer will recognise your cd rom again.
who,s the daddy!
SOURCE: dvd drive wont open , can hear motor working but
Turn the computer off,Remove power cable.Use a peper clip insert it through a hole infront of the dvd drive this will eject the door.Make sure once this is opened the tray is aligned properly, slide it in and out.Push it in all the way then power up the computer. This may work for a while, before it goes again,so you might have to replace it.
Good Luck
