My KP-51HW40 is better, but it still turn itself off

I have a Sony KP-51HW40, 6 years old. It had the turned itself the blue screen and off problem before, I followed the instructions that I saw in the web to adject the blue CRT in the front panel. it is a litter better, so we can watch the TV for a 30 minutes, alter that, it TV is lossing its blue, and picture is greenish. That depends my luck, I may watch for another hour before it turn it off. Again, it has 8 blinks on the panel.I heard it that I must replace the D Board. What is the instruction to replacing the D Board. What is the part number and is that the cause for this TV?

Are you sure you didn't turn the knob too far down? Just a though. I don't know off hand which one is the D board but the boards are marked. Please be careful when working on TV sets as they produce high voltage which may reside even while the sets is unplugged. Also I would do more research on this problem before purchasing a new D board. I have been told that the picture tubes in these sets go bad. G what a bummer guess what set I own :( Here is the code for 8 blinks, it looks like you may just have to replace a part on the D board.

8 times, Diagnosis: High voltage error. Possible cause: T8005 is faulty. (D board)

I hope this helps, keep in mind its hard to diagnose issues without actually being there.

I have a sony kp-51hw40, it started to have blue and red lines accross the screen. now the picture turns blue then turns off. is my red and blue gun wore out?

find someone that knows about TVs to take off the front access cover and adjust the screen controls .DON'T TOUCH THE FOCUS KNOBS.Just the screen control knobs.Usually they can work a few more years with adjustements . But if it can't be adjusted to work then the guns would have to be repaced. Many many many many of your model were affected by a little screw up sony made with their CRTs.

Kp-fs57 blue screen then turns off

Could be one of three things the yokes, the flyback transformer or the picture tubes, all will be a costly repair. If it was mine I would invest the money in a new one.

Blue screen

The tech form Sony is right. The blue CRT has an intermittent short and if the TV is more than a few years old, replacing all three tubes may be necessary. The cost is prohibitive. I see a LCD flat panel in your future.

Sony KP-51HW40

I read it online that this is a very simple problem. It needs highvoltage splitter. I tried to open the front panel to see where the splitter is. However, I need some hint as to how to open the front panel. Good luck. Kiran
