Ps3 to gateway fdp1760 frequency out of range dvi to hdmi cable

Setup: Gateway fdp1760, PS3, and one HDMI to DVI cable. Monitor works fine with computer. Monitor supports High Definition DVI input. I set my PS3 display to 720 only with no superwhite support and limited rgb.(in other words simple 720 with no frills). When I plug my ps3 to my monitor, I get a black screen or a message that says frequency out of range. What gives?

Nevermind. it seems that even though I have a dvi input on my pc monitor and I use a dvi to hdmi cable for the ps3, if the monitor I want to use is not hdcp (high definition copyright protection) compliant then it won't work with the ps3. I guess i solved my own question.

What Frequency is the monitor set to run at ? u will get that mesg whan the monitor is receiving a signal that is greater than what it can handle say ur monitor can take 1024x768@60hz from ur PC and maybee ur PS3 is sending 720x720@100hz so ur monitor can handle the resolution but not the refresh rate that would be why u get that message

Try using a VGA to VGA cable or a dvi to dvi cable because dvi-d and hdmi tend to lack the necessary pins to be converted to an analogue signal. A hdmi to dvi cable may also work

If you see a no signal message, then it means that the signal output format of the PS3 does not match . It happens if you have previous used it on another tv and now connected it to a different tv. To resolve this, turn off the PS3 . Press and hold the power button on the PS3 till you hear three BEEPS. The PS3 should automatically detect the tv's resolution and the initial setup screen should appear. After that you should just follow on-screen instructions to set it up.

Monitor goes to sleep when attached to DVI cable. When attached to analog input it works. This is a Gateway tower with the DVI and a HDMI input in the same panel?

Disconnect the HDMI from the PC.Power off the PC.Plug in the HDMI cable to the PC.Power on the PC.Post back.

There are a varity of HDMI cables, ensure that your version is supported also using the input touch "button" to change the input through VGA, DVI and HDMI.

It display out off range because the PS3 is feeding the monitor with higher resolution that the monitor cannot suppoert, try setting the PS3 to the lowest resolution first and go up from there.

If it like my monitor, same hookups as yours, then when you want to use the hdmi port you need to disconnect the dvi cable. The monitor cannot read from hdmi & dvi when both are connected, Try this & see if your PS3 works. Good luck
