if the sony laptop already has an OS on it or a newer version of windows than XP, you have to uninstall the current OS on the sony vaio. also, that means reformatting the Hard Drive on the sony which actually wipes it clean. Before you do that, you should have the original disk of the sony pc drivers installation or you need to go to the product(sony vaio) web site so you can download those drivers for (PCG-61213W) to disk or flash drive. after wiping Hard drive, you can install the XP, then the drivers that you downloaded. However, viaos are strange pc's so i would ask Sony if this XP install will be compatible with the Sony pc hardware components first. good luck.

While I usually do driver downloads from CNet, this seems to be what you are looking for.

you shouldn't need to have to press f9 to boot from cd rom if you have it set in the bios as the first boot device , are you sure the copy of windows on cd that you have is bootable. Try booting from the disc on another laptop or pc and see if you can start it

once you have booted to usb you should be able to access the cd rom

depending on what version of windows you are trying to install you will need to run different programs.

you could also install vista or windows 7 to usb drive and install it from that, it is much quicker than installing from cd/dvd you would need to be able to boot from usb to start with though

If you will turn your VAIO upside down you will see reset button. You can press that with pin,. This will reset camera. Reinstall camera drivers after reset and camera should work.

Here you go. Use the 3rd on down on the list. Just select go to the right of it, and you can start the download.

Did your sony vaio came with a cd installer? If it has one, you can use that to reinstall the ethernet controller.
